Asteroid 2004 XP14 - Orbit in Blue Just in case the big asteroid that is
supposed to pass within 250,000 miles at about midnight hits the earth. How close is that? The way I picture it is; I have a car with more miles on it than that, therefore it isn't far enough. The
scientists, and even the
Chinese, who have more to lose from an extinction event, say we shouldn't worry. If you

big asteroid's pass looks 'way too close:
