Al Gore and the country we could have been

Sore loser Al Gore, looking pallid and waxy, told an admiring audience of Euroconomists in Sweden, (where he was hanging aound hoping to snag a Nobel Prize) that "the United States would be 'a different country' if he had won the 2000 election". (AP at MyWay)

I wonder what country Al figures the United states would be now, had he been elected in 2000. New Arabia? China West? The North American District of the UN World Government? Goravia?

I almost forgot to mention that the high point of Gore's Stockholm speech was his much awaited announcement that he won't be running for US President ever again. Thanks to Angela for the reminder.
