Powerball - You can't win if you don't play

Ordinarily sensible, intelligent folks are heard to say, "You can't win if you don't play." as they bet their dollars against the worst odds in town. The old saw is a truism, but for all practical purposes, you can't win if you do play, either. Something to do with fuzzy logic. Bankers understand it, they won't lend you money if all you offer for collateral is a Powerball ticket. Even one good for $340,000,000.00, if it is the winner.

Obviously, this big number has the power to cloud the mind. It is utterly irrational to believe that one has more than a snowball's chance in hell of winning the big Powerball jackpot. But people are lining up to play the numbers in Nebraska where most folks hate gambling.

How irrational can you be for a buck? I say go ahead and play if you want. You can't win if you don't play.
