We had a sticky snow last night here at the Orchard, and the melt this morning was causing some runoff problems. The old feeder found an even older spade and went to work draining the big pool that was blocking our driveway. The snow stuck to my new jail shoes in great clumps; every step added another layer until it was like walking in deep-sea diver boots. I'd scrape but the next step started the process again. I finally had to pull my foot out of the shoe pictured above. What has this got to do with conservative GOP politics? Read on.

John McCain style conservatism is a proven loser, yet the stuff keeps sticking to conservatives' shoes like last night's snow. You might think the last presidential election would have scraped this mess off of the shoes of good Republicans. but, no! It's back, the same crappy faux-conservatism that gave us the disastrous Obama administration and it's awful Marxist "change." Don't let this stuff build up on your political walking shoes. Scrape it off! Don't let this horrible accretion continue.

Please take a few minutes to read Michelle Malkin's timely column, Conservatives: Beware of McCain Regression Syndrome. Heed the warning. America cannot stand another failure of true conservatism. The GOP is walking a dangerous path, one that has much of the old shit sticking to their shoes. It is time to scrape these losers and their failed ideologies off and find the true path. Otherwise the conservatives of America will pull their feet right out of those sodden Republican shoes.

At the risk of being called a racist yet again, I note that the Gateway Pundit post linked above states that most undecided voters at this late date are white people. Because I'm not a racist, I won't suggest that most of these undecided voters will reflexively vote for the white candidate. Sure, over 90% of black voters say they will pull the lever for Obama, but what if there is an inverse Bradley effect among black voters? Will some black voters, in the privacy of the voting booth, break with the overtly racist notion that real blacks must vote for another black, no matter what?

Insurrection

Its time for you to send more e-mail. This time its to the Republican National Committee. The idea for this campaign came from the Ace of Spades. I urge you to read Ace's post, then use the e-mail addresses that follow to let the RNC know that we must fight hard or lose. Believe it or not, the RNC is on the verge of conceding the White House.

Here is what I did. I copied the text of Ace's call to arms like so:

If McCain Won't Do It, We Will

I've been told to stop grousing about McCain's self-defeating refusal to fight back on the main issue this election -- It's the economy, stupid! -- and do something constructive.

Well. That's not half bad advice. So here's a constructive post.

The insurrection has three elements:

1) Donate to 527s hitting this issue with TV ads in swing states.

2) Inform the RNC you want them to begin hitting this issue nonstop themselves, even at the expense of pro-McCain ads, and even against his wishes. I've got news for you: At this point, due to McCain's stubbornness, we face a very real chance of losing 50 House seats and even failing to hold on to forty Senate seats, resulting in a Democratic President with a Democratic filibuster-proof Senate. The RNC must hit the Democrats on this issue with every last dime they can raise.

3) Inform McCain that you have donated all money that may have gone to him to 527s willing to fight on this issue, and you'll donate your free time making calls on behalf of Congressional and Senatorial candidates rather than his ticket.

Will 2 or 3 work? Well, here's some bad news: the RNC is already considering abandoning McCain in favor of trying to save the Senate, and until McCain is comfortable addressing the only issue on voters' minds right now, maybe that's for the best.

Besides, any ad that blames Obama and the Democrats for the subprime disaster helps McCain, whether he understands economics enough to realize that or not.

As for three... doubtful. But maybe a concerted effort can convince him, just once, to listen to Republican voters on a crucial issue.

If I had to guess... John McCain has always been fairly well-off. The son of an admiral isn't hurting. I don't know if he understands that "honor" and "integrity" are noble virtues but not really a priority for voters who just lost half their 401ks, must now pony up $10,000 per household to bail out a financial sector they had nothing at all to do with harming, and are actually worried they might lose their homes or jobs in the near future.

McCain is now the one dealing in the airy-fairy realm of vague slogans, whereas Barack Obama is the one communicating to the country on specific issues that are paramount to them.

Socialism is making its case while capitalism remains silent, as if ashamed to even speak.

Of course Barack Oama is winning. 90% of success is just showing up, and capitalism isn't showing up. Because McCain is too timid to fix the blame on the socialistic risk-transfer the Fannie and Freddie subprime mortgages represented.

A great harm has been done to the nation. The country is angry. They are looking for people to blame -- and if John McCain is too meek or "honorable" to lay blame where it deserves to be laid, well then, they'll blame him. And the party he represents.

Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and yes, even Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, have no qualms whatsoever about blaming this crisis on McCain and his running mates George Bush and the GOP.

Why is McCain so reluctant to fire back?

Shake him out of his complacency.

Then I pasted it into the e-mail message body. I used the first sentence for the subject, and sent them to all the following e-mail addresses:

I can't watch live debates because they make me nervous. Last night's 'town-hall' charade was no exception; I didn't watch.

This morning, however, I am able to report that John McCain was the hands-down winner. Why? Because the news media says there was no clear winner. It is a fact that the news media is overwhelmingly biased in favor of Barack Obama, if they are calling the debate a draw or a 'close call', it necessarily means that McCain won. Q.E.D.

My favorite part:

I’m not running for president because I think I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need. My country saved me. My country saved me, and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God.

Most important part:

I’m running for President to keep the country I love safe, and prevent other families from risking their loved ones in war as my family has. I will draw on all my experience with the world and its leaders, and all the tools at our disposal - diplomatic, economic, military and the power of our ideals - to build the foundations for a stable and enduring peace.

Selling points:

We face many threats in this dangerous world, but I'm not afraid of them. I'm prepared for them. I know how the military works, what it can do, what it can do better, and what it should not do. I know how the world works. I know the good and the evil in it. I know how to work with leaders who share our dreams of a freer, safer and more prosperous world, and how to stand up to those who don't. I know how to secure the peace.

Last night I saw two speeches delivered at the Republican National Convention that I thought were outstanding and others that were just plain good. The truly great speeches were delivered by Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin.

Uncle Wiggily from the Heartland Notebook, said this about her in the feedlot comments: "She's purty, knows how to fish (family business), play basketball (state champs), and reproduce (5 kids). RedState says McCain's choice for his running mate is more likely than not going to be Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. The man has much to going for him. Not only is he a young, outdoorsy cat, he's got a good conservative record, which the linked RedState post conveniently lists. The buzz is on in Minneapolis, and the blogs are picking up Red State's lead. I saw the story first at the Jawa Report. I would be pleased with Pawlenty.

Powell's selection would mean an "all military service" ticket for the GOP, versus "no military service" for the Democrats. The choice would no doubt be viewed in some quarters as an attempt to co-opt Obama's negroness.

US Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain sees himself as the new Teddy Roosevelt. Say what you will about McCain, but the hero of San Juan Hill is as pure an American icon as you'll find outside of Hollywood.

Now we can understand why Senator McCain persists in aggravating his conservative base with his unpopular stance on illegal immigration. Teddy Roosevelt was one of the first to embrace the then popular concept of the "White Man's Burden". When Kipling first published the poem by that name in 1899, TR copied it and sent it to his friends. I'll bet that won't make the race gangsters at La Raza feel good.

The old feeder sees National Parks as nothing more than stolen property, but I am painfully aware of being in the minority on this matter. I wonder how long it will take the eco-nuts to disown TR now that McCain has adopted him as role model.

The Bull Moose speech was magnificent; no modern pol except McCain has cojones of that caliber. There weren't any teleprompters then, either.

As a kid, I was always fascinated by the fact that TR rode into battle at San Juan carrying a dozen extra pairs of glasses. What a Mensch. John McCain could have done worse in choosing a role model.

The senator indicated that both Congress and President Bush are partly responsible for the situation, but argued that others are also playing a role.

“I think that there’s plenty of that blame to go around, including very greedy people that happen to be in Wall Street today ... like the CEO of Bear Stearns who decided the day before he was bailed out by the federal government to cash in millions of dollar's worth of stock,” he stated, adding that there needs to be “a lot more accountability” on Wall Street.

How I hope these are all just lies McCain is telling just to get elected. In my dreams: as soon as he takes the oath of office, President McCain is going to pull off that awful mask he's been wearing on the campaign trail. The real McCain, a cross between Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, will emerge to save America from stupidity, cupidity, Marxism and Mohammed.

The New York Times today regurgitated an old 'scandal' involving Senator John McCain. Like most folks, I don't believe these scurrilous stories about some inappropriate relationship between John and a lady not his wife. McCain might be lots of things, but an indiscreet Lothario isn't one of them.

If what I have read about today at World Net Daily is true, then Republicans should demand a do-over of their entire nominating process. Jerome Corsi writes that John McCain's campaign has been funded in part by that antithesis of everything conservative, George Soros. You know, Mr. MoveOn.org, the man whose money infuses Marxist websites and phony front organizations.

This secret meddling with our nomination process, if true, goes to illustrate just how far Marxist thinkers have penetrated our society. They mean to enslave us, make no mistake. We cannot tolerate having communist secret agents tweaking the GOP choice for a US Presidential candidate. Its worse than the Manchurian Candidate scenario, only because it is even more devious.

Can you believe that every single front runner in the race for the White House is funded and backed by our old cold war enemies? That the Republican nominating process has been corrupted by sworn enemies of the America way? What should we do?

Nothing short of a do-over will satisfy me.

It looks like Senator John McCain has won the Florida Republican primary, in spite of looking and acting like a Democrat most of the time. Mitt Romney prayed campaigned mightily and looks to be a close second. Giuliani may well call it quits.
