After reading the Standard-Times' recent editorial regarding legislative efforts to lift the travel ban to Cuba, I felt the need to respond. This is an issue that my colleagues and I on the Agriculture Committee continue to examine and in the newspaper's analysis of the issue, I believe some pertinent concerns were overlooked.Without true liberty all the rum drinks taken in quaint old hotels while being served by quaintly oppressed peasants should taste bitter in the mouths of the thoughtless hypocrites and stooges who think they will be helping. For the ones who know the real score and still support a US policy that will give aid and comfort to our mortal enemies, the Communists: may Castro's rum turn to poison in their mouths.
The U.S. Declaration of Independence asserts with no equivocation that liberty is an inalienable right, granted to us by our Creator. The government of Cuba unequivocally disagrees with us on this point.
Fidel and Raul Castro have erected, as their own sister once said, "an enormous prison surrounded by water." According to the U.S. State Department, Cuba is a state sponsor of terrorism, one of only four in the world.
The Cuban government, along with Syria, Iran and Sudan, has repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism and engaged in the trade of prohibited materials with other state sponsors. It has allied itself with Hugo Chavez, FARC rebels in Colombia and Basque separatists in northern Spain, and it continues to harbor U.S. fugitives.
Further, the government of Cuba consistently ranks as one of the most repressive, draconian and abusive regimes in the world.
Our relations with Cuba are not merely an economic question, but a moral question as well.
I support our current agricultural export policy with Cuba because I believe that supplying this nation with foodstuffs lessens suffering among the citizens and drains the Castro regime of funds to spend on more belligerent uses. The humanitarian goal of feeding innocent people and the strategic goal of exhausting the funds of a totalitarian government outweigh the moral hazard of trading with a nation as corrupt as Cuba.
Our agricultural producers should rightly be proud of the role they play and the profits they earn in helping to protect the Cuban people.
However, the question of lifting the travel ban presents a different set of moral concerns. Tourists traveling to Cuba to spend their money will enrich the Castro regime, largely without ever seeing the desperate poverty and crushing oppression that the average Cuban faces. The tourism industry in Cuba is, in fact, run by their military and they will, without question, enact and enforce laws restricting the interaction of the Cuban poor with Americans on travel.
The money American tourists would trade for sandy beaches and quaint, old hotels will be funneled into the state-run business and the Cuban government's coffers, where it can be used for malicious activity.
It is possible that this money could be used to buy food from Texans or Georgians, but the Cuban government has a proven track-record of violent political repression, financing Marxist revolutionary movements in Latin America and arming terrorist organizations.
In your editorial, you cited a letter written by 74 members of Castro's opposition who support lifting the travel ban. It is unfortunate that you were not able to also consider a response letter sent to the chairman of the Agriculture Committee, Collin Peterson, by several hundred former prisoners of Fidel Castro.
In their letter, they explained to Chairman Peterson: "We are former Cuban political prisoners, who have spent a combined 3,551 years in Castro's gulag. We are living testimony of the unspeakable tortures, cruelty and deprivations of the military dictatorship of the Castro brothers. (E)very dollar (this) legislation seeks to place in the coffers of the Castro regime will only be used to further repress the Cuban people."
The letter is a powerful statement about the true nature of the Cuban government and the lengths to which military dictatorships will go to maintain their grip on power.
As a Christian, I have a deeply held conviction that the oppression of the Cuban people by the brutal Castro regime is morally reprehensible. While I am a strong supporter of existing and improved agricultural export relations with Cuba, lifting the travel ban and opening Cuba to American tourism is an issue separate from those exports. Lifting the ban would strengthen the Castro regime and enrich a state-sponsor of terrorism.
In my travels and meetings in Congress, I have met with many Cuban refugees. I have heard the depths of their suffering and I look forward to the day when all Cubans live in a nation free from fear, repression and retribution.
However, unilaterally lifting the travel ban, with no commitment from the Cuban government to improve its record on human rights, political freedom and economic openness, will not meet this goal.
Our nation should work toward free elections in Cuba with every tool and resource at our disposal. When that day finally does come, Americans and Cubans alike will enjoy the freedom to travel between our countries; but most importantly, Cubans will finally get to enjoy true liberty, a God-given human right.

Talks or Walks?
I'm thinking of the enemy in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea, not that there aren't others. These folks seem to hate Obama and the US. How come no 'talks'?

Anyone remember Tiananmen Square?
It was twenty years ago today that the Tiananmen Square Massacre (referred to in China as the June Fourth Incident was perpetrated by the Red Chinese People's Army. Read a fine post by Michael Laprarie at Wizbang about the incident. Click the photo and the title for more.

Post-election Market Bounce Continues
The post-election bounce in the US stock market continues unabated. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which fell 486.01 points the first day after the votes were counted, was down another 443.48 at today's close. That is a 929.49 point loss, in spite of government bailouts, incentives and promises of more costly government intervention schemes economic programs to pump the market back up.
Of course, this record breaking post-election market collapse hasn't got anything to do with Barack Obama's election. To suggest that investors are worried about Obama's Marxist plans might be, well, racist. Got to get behind our new leader, right?
---
In yesterday's post, the old feeder opined that the investors might not have liked what they saw at the Obama rally outside the White House election night. Scenes like this:
Of course there was our new flag, the red one with the hammer and sickle that Barack's delirious supporters were waving. That sort of thing wouldn't make investors think those stories about nationalizing our banks and major industries might be true. Would it?
It must be the unemployment numbers or consumer confidence that are responsible for the mood to sell that has captured Wall Street. Sure, things look dark, but not because of investor concerns about socialism. The market will turn around any minute now. No need to panic.

Click for the Hammer and Sickle Video
The old feeder wouldn't be surprised to see an uptick any time now. Surely there are still suckers out there that see this implosion as an opportunity to buy cheap. I fear their fate will be "Buy Low - Sell Lower" though, unless they are peculiarly adroit day-traders.
Capitalism. It was nice while it lasted.

Obama: the next Castro or Mugabe?
John McCain got a great reception in Miami yesterday. Florida has so many Americans who have their roots in Cuba that it comes as no surprise. If you want to hear about what Marxism (call it what you want: socialism, progressivism, communism, fabianism, collectivism, whatever) can do for America just listen to the Cubans. They know exactly what they are talking about; they either experienced it first hand or heard about it from their immigrant parents, Marxism ruined their former homeland.
For reasons I won't go into, I have always had a personal sympathy for Cuba. The cold war never came so close to going hot as it did over Cuba. Thinking about that doped-up rat JFK and his shameful treachery at the Bay of Pigs makes my blood boil.
Check out the McCain Miami visit story at here Babalu Blog. More than that, though, take a few minutes to go to their main page, scroll down to the Blog Roll there in the right-hand column entitled Cubiches. A frequent commenter here, Canuckguy, who hails from our neighbor to the north, thinks Obama will bring Marxism to America the same way that Robert Mugabe brought Marxism to Zimbabwe-Rhodesia. What an awful prospect for Nebraska, an agricultural state. I suppose all the poor and homeless from America's big cities will be moved to our rural areas to work the farms after they have been seized from their fat-cat white owners.
Lots of my friends are Kulaks.

Gateway, I was born and raised in Miami, Florida.
Both my father and grandfather were members of the Brigada 2506, Bay of Pigs regiment, that went to topple Castro in 61' and was betrayed and abandoned by a young, charismatic and naive President. (sound familiar)
My father then went on to work for the "Company" in the 60's, 70's and 80's. (as well as being a RE developer)
Yesterday we both went to that event on Calle Ocho, the heart & bastion of the Cuban American community.
We know first hand the misguided belief that "change" is needed, at any cost or thought, and to give over power to a person who wanted to spread the wealth around, too!!!
Wake up America, let's stand up and fight for our grand and glorious Republic...
Let us defeat the enemies of Liberty.

Can Obama take the oath of the office he seeks?
How could Barack Obama take this oath when he believes that the Constitution is fundamentally flawed?
Barack Obama believes the US Constitution is nothing more than a 'remarkable political document', not the most basic law of the land, the very foundation upon which rests our republic. As Kim Priestap points out at Wizbang Blog, Barack constantly refers to the US Constitution in the past tense. Barack is a lawyer, this use of language isn't accidental, it is base sophistry. From Kim's post:
---
What Barack's friends Bill Ayers and the Weathermen could not accomplish with bombs, and what his mentor Frank Marshall Davis could not do with words, Barack Obama thinks he can do by flouting the presidential oath of office. That oath includes no promise to "break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers" in the Constitution. If he swears or affirms that oath he will be lying.
BFD, I guess. We already know Barack to be a liar.
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.Listen to this audio that is linked on the Drudge Report today. It is from a Chicago Public Radio Show, Odyssey, which aired in 2001. Then listen to this other excerpt. (The entire hour-long show may be heard with RealPlayer from the original CPR archives here.) I already knew Obama was a Marxist. What these tapes reveal is how deeply he has internalized Marxist thinking and how little respect he has for the great men and women who came before him.
First, note that during all of his remarks he speaks of the Constitution in past tense instead of in present tense. I don't remember hearing any nominee to the US Supreme Court speak of the Constitution in this manner, so this is more than semantics.Leftist views? These ideas go far beyond what we commonly call leftist views. What Barack Obama wants to do is nothing short of the imposition of morally and economically bankrupt Marxist thought on America through the corruption of our Constitution. As Steve Schippert writes at Wizbang: "Barack Obama, the favorite to be elected the President of the United States of America in barely a week's time, sees the American Constitution as an obstacle rather than a guiding document." What has happened to the Democrat party? Joe the plumber's fears were well founded.
---
Second, he calls the Constitution a "remarkable political document." I think it's fair to say that our Constitution is more than just a political document. It's the supreme law of our nation. It's the foundation of our republic. It outlines our freedoms by stating clearly what the government can't do to us and there's a reason why our Founding Fathers deliberately structured it that way. The President of the United States is required to swear to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States. However, by listening to what Obama said in this interview and the 2001 interview that Steve posted earlier it's clear: he thinks the Constitution is fundamentally flawed. And based upon his words what other logical conclusion can someone come to other than Obama doesn't think the Constitution should be protected but should be radically altered so it reflects his leftist views.

Latest Barack Obama Reading List
I've already made my position clear. I'm against Barack Obama. This post is incremental.
When he was campaigning for the Democrat Party nomination, nobody knew who Obama was, where he came from or what his policies were. In the ensuing months those of us that cared to make the effort have discovered him to be a national socialist with a history of associations with violent revolutionaries, class-warfare thugs, unscrupulous political machine operatives and racist hate-mongers. We now can see that he stands for socialist redistribution of wealth and the nationalization of key industries. In short, we can see him for what he really is: a National Socialist.
This knowledge was hard-won. Much of it comes to light at this late hour in the 2008 election because much of it has been actively concealed, obfuscated, scrubbed, revised and lied about by the Obama camp and their dupes in the media. What follows is simply a compendium of the latest revelations in this process of getting to know Barack Obama.

Curiously, old-school International Marxists don't like Obama. They see him as I do, a National Socialist inextricably teamed with big-money power brokers. This is the very same reason traditionalist Reds in Germany opposed the National Socialist upstart, Hitler. It goes to prove what I've always said: that Nazis and Red Communists are not in any sense polar opposites, they merely quibble over the preferred implementation of Marxist thought.

Update: Babalu blog has this story of how the Cuban Dirección General de Inteligencia assisted the illegal activities of Ayers' Weather Underground during the time they were setting bombs and escaping from the FBI. Read it here: Surprise! Cuban DGI helped Ayers and the Weather Underground. In those days, the DGI was essentially an arm of the Soviet KGB, which had many connections to the US antiwar movement, supplying money, training, terrorist materials and weapons to any anti-American outfit that would take them.

Zombietime: William Ayers' forgotten communist manifesto: Prairie Fire.
This essay only exists to correct and unequivocally debunk claims routinely made by the mainstream media over the last few weeks about William Ayers, his beliefs, and the purpose behind his bombing campaign during the 1970s.---
Specifically, when questions arose during the 2008 presidential race about Barack Obama's past associations with William Ayers, many media reports and articles blandly described Ayers as a "Vietnam-era radical" and the Weather Underground as a group that set bombs "to protest against the Vietnam War." Both of these characterizations are demonstrably inaccurate.
Furthermore: Obama and his supporters at first claimed he barely knew who Ayers was, but when public awareness of the connections between Obama and Ayers became too numerous and too strong to deny, Obama's supporters have now begun resorting to a fallback position: that William Ayers wasn't such a bad guy after all, and that it is no shame to be associated with him.
Confederate Yankee: Just a Little Genocide.
Testimony of FBI informant Larry Grathwohl about a meeting of the Weather Underground he attended. The very outfit led by Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn:---I asked, "well what is going to happen to those people we can't reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?" and the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated.
And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers.
And when I say "eliminate," I mean "kill."
Twenty-five million people.
I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people.
And they were dead serious.
Politically Drunk On Power! blog: Web Archives Confirm Barack Obama Was Member Of Socialist 'New Party' In 1996.
I discovered a web page that had been scrubbed from the New Party's website. The web page which was published in October 1996, was an internet newsletter update on that years congressional races. Although the web page was deleted from the New Party's website, the non-profit Internet Archive Organization had archived the page.---
From the October 1996 Update of the DSA 'New Party':
"New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races...
Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary)."
---
"New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George's County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago. "
NewsBusters: Will MSM Report on Obama Membership in Socialist New Party?
The mainstream media thought that the membership of Todd Palin, who is not a candidate for any office, in the Alaska Independence Party important enough to report in such outlets as the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, and the New York Times, among others.---
So now that Barack Obama's membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization?
WND: Newspaper shows Obama belonged to socialist party.
The New Party, formed by members of the Democratic Socialists for America and leaders of an offshoot of the Community Party USA, was an electoral alliance that worked alongside the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The New Party's aim was to help elect politicians to office who espouse its policies.Gateway Pundit: Barack Obama Praises Fellow New Party Member & Quasi-Marxist Danny Davis. Obama's campaign has responded to the allegations, denying the presidential candidate was ever a member of the New Party.
But the New Zeal blog dug up print copies of the New Party News, the party's official newspaper, which show Obama posing with New Party leaders, list him as a New Party member and include quotes from him.

The TownCrier blog: Obama was a member of the Socialist Party in Chicago.
Obama was speaker at 1996 meeting of the Democratic Socialists of America. He has been verified as being a member.---

Chicago DSA is affiliated with the national Democratic Socialists of America but is separately incorporated. Anyone paying national membership dues in the Chicago area is automatically a member of the Chicago DSA local.

Gateway Pundit: Confirmed: MSM Holds Video Of Barack Obama Attending Jew-Bash & Toasting a Former PLO Operative... Refuse to Release the Video!
LA Times writer Peter Wallsten wrote about Barack Obama's close association with former Palestinian operative Rashid Khalidi back in April.---
Wallsten discussed a dinner held back in 2003 in honor of Khalidi, a critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights. Barack Obama has denied his close association with Khalidi, too. Barack Obama also praised the former PLO operative during the event. And, Obama confessed that his family often shared dinner with the Khalidis:His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases... It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation -- a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."
...The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times.
Khalidi and the Obamas were great friends in Chicago and often shared meals together.
By the way, Khalidi was also best friends with Bill Ayers.

If "Socialist" is a code word for "Black" then...
Communist must be a code word for Barack Obama.
I heard about this newest and most disgusting play of the presidential election Race Card from the Gateway Pundit: Lewis Diuguid, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist writes that the "Socialist" Label Is Code Word For "Black". Obama really brings out the worst in people. Lewis wouldn't know history if it sat next to him on the bus. The good folks in KC ought to be ashamed.
---
Update: From The Conservative Cat:
Sadly, Mr. Diuguid's analysis tells us more about his state of mind than Senator McCain's. Obama is being labelled as a socialist because of his encounter with Joe the Plumber. Moreover, if socialist is a code word for black, what did it mean when Human Events applied it to John Kerry, and how do you explain the D=S web site? The Cat also connects this piece of low level journalism to a pattern that labels any and all criticism of Obama as racism. He goes on to note that, "[w]hile this tactic is used more often by Obama supporters than Obama himself, those supporters are not going to change when he gets in the White House. Things could get really ugly."
---
More:
It would seem the folks responsible for public safety in America's big cities agree about the coming ugliness. See: The Confederate Yankee: Nationwide, Police Begin Bracing For Obama's Defeat, which cite this article in TheHill.
Police departments are preparing for violence might erupt if Obama, the first black candidate for POTUS) loses the election. Socialists are known for rioting when they don't get their way. I'm not using code here either: blacks have never rioted. Not in the 1960's. Not ever. Not for any reason. No sir.
The writer for TheHill, Alexander Bolton, tries to avoid the racist label by suggesting that the police might also be girding their loins out of concern for what Sarah Palin's supporters might do if John McCain and the second woman vice presidential candidate loses. The Confederate Yankee asks: "does anyone really expect women or Republicans to riot if McCain and Palin aren't elected?"
The media is running scared, and its because of those darn socialists.

Sarah Palin and net tax consumers
I heard it on the radio today. Glenn Beck interviewed Governor Sarah Palin. It was a short interview, you can read the whole thing in a minute right here. The one thing that caught my ear was this answer Sarah gave when Glenn asked her about Obama's promised net tax cuts:
These people who pay no income taxes at all failing, by any measure, to "pay their fair share." Do you remember the lesson of the Widow's Mite included in the gospels of Mark and Luke? Whether you follow Jesus or not, and even if you are historically sophisticated enough to know there weren't any coins called 'mites' or 'leptons' in Jesus' day, the story makes a valid point about what one's fair share really ought to be. The folks who now pay no income tax ought to pay some sort of symbolic share, but there is still more to the problem than that.
Of course, as Governor Palin points out, the only conceivable way that the folks who don't pay any income tax could get anything like a 'tax cut' from an Obama administration would be for the giver-mint to cut a check for them. You have heard the congressional double-speak that calls such a check a refund. How can one give back (refund) that which was never handed over in the first place? Its just a pretty thin slice of baloney that calls a welfare give-away a refund, but there is a more important aspect to this problem than even this grotesque distortion of the language.
The Real Rub
If there are 40% of Americans who pay no income tax at all today, not even a symbolic mite, what will stop there from being 50% next year? Or even 60%? Won't the same misguided policies that gave us the lopsided taxation system of today continue to tilt the boat? As far as I can see, this question remains almost totally unaddressed by anyone in government or running for office. The consequences of this trend continuing are nothing less than catastrophic.
Ben Franklin said it, but is an obvious truism that "when the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." Is this not exactly what Barack Obama represents? The idea that voting for him will put a government check in your mailbox? Won't this mean the end of the republic? Answer: you bet it will!
The Real Solution
The solution is surprisingly simple, yet every time I have proposed it, I have been met with scorn and derision. You would think I was suggesting something sinister and evil, something utterly un-American. I think we ought to disenfranchise net tax consumers.
The idea that everyone, no matter how poorly they run their own affairs, ought to have a say in running my affairs is what I find sinister. Letting slackers and parasites destroy the republic is what I find un-American. Allowing, even encouraging these same unproductive, non-contributing people to profit from tasking our government with the legalized plunder of productive folks who pay taxes is what I find to be evil.

Naturally the solution is too obvious, too simple, even too radical for anyone to consider seriously. You won't miss the republic until it is gone, I guess. As Orson Scott Card wrote: "If pigs could vote, the man with the slop bucket would be elected swineherd every time, no matter how much slaughtering he did on the side."
Barack Obama claims that he will cut income taxes for 95% of Americans. The problem is more than 40% pay no income taxes at all. So how do you cut income taxes for folks who don't pay them? What he's going to do is write them a check and call that a tax cut, even though it's really a tax credit. And where is he going to get all the money for all those checks? By raising taxes on America's families and on our small businesses and folks just like Joe the plumber. Its a good answer, but doesn't really address the disturbing nature of one of the main premises: that "more than 40% pay no income taxes at all". Its bad enough, as Palin rightly points out, to take money from those Americans that do pay income taxes to cut checks for these net tax consumers, but there is more to the problem than that.

Joe McCarthy's awful legacy: President Obama
Senator Joe McCarthy was a genuine anti-communist. I remember watching the Army-McCarthy hearings on TV in 1954 at my grandparents' house. Sadly his crusade against the spread of communism was derailed by the incompetency of his staffers and his leftist enemies in Congress and the media. McCarthyism came to mean "demagogic, reckless, and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents." (wiki)
Joe has his defenders, among them the spitfire Ann Coulter, who wrote a fine book about how revisionist historians have distorted McCarthy's real work. Still, old Joe remains about as popular as the proverbial plop in a punchbowl. It wouldn't be so bad if it were only a case of slander, but the revisionists have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. The institutionalized idiomatization of McCarthyism will possibly be responsible for bringing a communist to power in America.
The fear of being labeled as another Joe McCarthy is exactly why John McCain will not say the word "communist" or even "socialist" in his campaign against Barack Obama. There is no doubt that Obama is a Marxist: his associates, confederates, mentors , friends and neighbors are almost all communists, commie sympathizers or fellow travelers.
John McCain will notcall a spade a spade speak the truth not only for fear of being labeled a racist, but he doesn't want to be accused of McCarthyism. McCain grew up being told incessantly that McCarthyism was the same thing as calling out communists. It isn't. Still, McCain can't speak the words, though they be the truth.
Just as criticizing Barack Obama has become equated with an act of racism, so calling out the man's communist background and current policies is an act of McCarthyism.
Joe McCarthy was made to appear to have failed to produce the facts in support of his claim that communism was creeping into the American scene. He was painted as reckless and irresponsible. I think McCarthy would have seen a better outcome than the censure and ignominy that was his fate if there had been an internet in the 1950's. Today, the facts are available.
When Americans first realized it might be possible that Barack Obama could become the Democrat candidate for president the first thing I heard was, "Who is this man?" Well, we don't have to wonder any longer. Barack isn't just another Chicago Democrat. He is a Marxist.
If Obama gets elected president, we will have only a Congress three-fourths full of communist idiots, stooges, sympathizers, dupes and socialist fellow travelers to stand between us and a communist tomorrow.

Bill Ayers and the University of Nebraska
I had been too upset to blog about this revolting development. Just thinking about the unrepentant communist terror bomber William Ayers speaking at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln was making me ill. Thank goodness so many folks made their feelings about this stupid move known. Now it is confirmed, this awful decision has been reversed.
I sent an e-mail to Chancellor Perman's office this afternoon. Here is their reply:
Our schools need a good cleaning, from top to bottom. They are infested with Marxist vermin.
---
Id like to thank all the bloggers that helped to keep Bill Ayers away from Lincoln. I know the Right Wing Professor, Gerard Harbison had the University administration's feet to the fire. The Domestic Divapalooza was on their case as well. Many of the blog heavyweights joined our local fight: Michelle Malkin had several posts on the issue, BlackFive's Pinch had a very helpful post encouraging folks to sound off to Harvey Perlman, UNL's dimwitted Chancellor.
There were literally hundreds of bloggers across America that were as angry as I was to see this happen. I'd make a list with links to them all, but I need to get my blood pressure back off the ceiling.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman actually asked the University to back off. I'm proud of the Governor for taking a firm stand against the commies, fellow travelers and useful idiots (like University President Milliken) that run our state institutions of higher learning. Republican Congressman Lee Terry, the bailout wuss, and our one relatively good Senator, Ben Nelson went on record for uninviting Ayers as well.
Give them an inch, and they will take a mile.
---
Off Topic: I can't understand how Senator Nelson, a known semi-conservative, can get behind fellow Democrat Obama's campaign. I know he can't be enthused about it and I believe he came out early for Barack just to spite Hillary Clinton. Before he knew very much about the kind of man Barack really is. I'd give money to be a fly on the voting booth wall and see for whom Ben actually pulls the lever in November.
I sent an e-mail to Chancellor Perman's office this afternoon. Here is their reply:
Thank you for your comments. Dr. Ayers was invited for this student research conference last spring, based on his outstanding research and scholarship in the field of education. He is a distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is highly regarded in his field and by his peers, scholars and students. He is the vice president of the American Educational Research Association. He is the author of “To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher ” which in 1993 was named Book of the Year by Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education. He also was named the Chicago citizen of the year in 1997 for his work with the Chicago Public Schools. What kind of idiots do these elitist fellow travelers think their alumni are? They act as though I never heard of Bill Ayers. Hell, I remember June 10th, 1970, when 'protesters' that were inspired by the likes of Bill Ayers burned the Armory at UNL. The idiots that run the school now wanted to invite this same brand of trash back to give a speech at the observance of my school's 100th anniversary. I was so angry I could hardly type. I was ready to drive to Lincoln on Monday.
He will not talk about anything other than his research on teaching and urban school reform. We do not condone violence or any of the behaviors that Dr. Ayers engaged in 40 years ago. I can understand your strong feelings about this speaker and will pass your comments along to the dean and chancellor's office.
Our schools need a good cleaning, from top to bottom. They are infested with Marxist vermin.

Barack Obama's Marxist agenda - nothing new here
I adapted the following Marxist agenda for America from John T. Flynn's book: The Road Ahead: America's Creeping Revolution, which you can download and read here. Flynn's book was published in 1949. It explained how the Fabians, Socialists and Communists planned to institute Marxist thought in post-WWII America.
Flynn was pretty much spot on; I modified this list from the one found on Page 14 of Flynn's The Road Ahead only to modernize it. What follows is how the Marxists have planned and worked to institute "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" here in the USA.
At the risk of inflicting a devalued cliché upon Plains Feeder readers, it is time to wake up, America. Tell John McCain you want to see him come out against the looming commie menace in full force. Let the chips fall where they may; unless we are willing to turn deaf ear to the left's false accusations of racism and political incorrectness, we will lose this fight.

They organized innocuously named groups which became their political planning machine that made the plans, trained their leaders, schooled their speakers and writers and directed their national educational program. For the most part these groups appeared to be decentralized, not obviously part of a grand scheme. They adopted the cell system of organization.I'm sure everyone is weary of the old feeder and his cry that "there are commies hiding under our beds!" Lately, however, I think more and more of you are beginning to see that I was right. Especially now that the commies have crawled out from under our beds and now stand a good chance of realizing their goal within the coming year.
They began by advocating not a Socialist or Communist State but a Welfare State as the prologue. Their opponents would be cast in a cold light; who will stand against the general welfare?
They resolved to offer their program in small successive sections, a method they called gradualism. Think of the fabled boiling frog.
They decided against total State ownership of land and industry. They proposed State ownership of the great basic functions: banking, credit, electric power, transportation, basic metals. The balance of the economic system would be left in private hands but operated under plans made by the State. They took advantage of natural adjustments in the free market economy to justify increasing such State ownership. Think bailout.
They agreed they must penetrate and capture the instruments of public opinion and information: the writers, the news media, the entertainers, the churchmen and the schools. Not necessarily to deceive the voters, but to make them unaware.
They knew they had to capture the mind of the working class and to that end they took over the labor unions.
To build a political power base they needed a legitimate party so they co-opted the Democratic Party.
To ensure victory in America's democracy, they organized groups to corrupt and subvert the election process. Think Acorn.
To take advantage of the Civil Rights Movement and the concept of Political Correctness, they placed minority group members in conspicuous positions throughout their movement. To argue against their Marxist agenda was now racist and mean spirited.

Dow up 936
You've seen the news. The Dow Jones average was up by 936 points at today's close. If this is a real recovery, I'll be glad of it. Most of the Wall Street Experts who were in favor of the Big Bailout seem to think the corner has been turned. Bloomberg is even happy that oil prices are going up again.
I'm not so sure today's big gains aren't merely evidence of increased volatility due to investor uncertainty. I'm fairly sure that a good bit today's uptick is due to late-in-the-day buying by market bargain hunters. There is no doubt in my mind that the bargains are out there; the vast majority of the US economy wasn't suffering from the panicky sickness the anti-free-market bailout pill was intended to cure.
As I have said before, we now have absolutely no way to know if government meddling or natural market forces are responsible, no matter which way the market moves in the months ahead. If things improve, as I have confidence that they will, you can bet there won't be any credit given to the invisible hand of Adam Smith. The goons that got us into this mess will thump their chests and claim their costly socialist bailout scheme worked. If things get worse, it will be because we didn't socialize the market enough.
At any event, trends are defined over time, not in a day. Meanwhile, the pink area of the chart below should give some idea of how far the 'recovery' has yet to go to regain the position of a year ago.

Communist Connections, etc
Its starting to become clear that the choice for American voters in the coming presidential election between different flavors of Marxism. Most folks don't even seem to notice; many of them that do don't seem to care. What has changed? We are on the verge of electing a believer in a system that is not only a proven loser, but always involves repression of the liberties enshrined by our Constitution.
As a nation, we fought the communists at home and abroad in the certain knowledge that it is anathema to everything good about America. We have opposed Marxist thought since its inception. Why are we apparently about to elect either a communist, in the form of Barack Obama, or a man who has gone soft on communism, John McCain?
The best answer I have been able to find is in this article by Paul Kengor writing at the American Thinker: Why Obama's Communist Connections Are Not Headlines. You should read it, but in summary it is this: "The history and truth about communism is not taught by our educators."
---
I fear we are lost. We should have been more vigilant.
---
A few odds and ends related to Barack Obama's crapulent friends:
The Gateway Pundit has a Photo Discovered Of Obama With Fellow Chicago Socialist Party Members. Yawn, its the old New Party. Here is the picture:
Here is an informative series of videos about the Weather Underground, the terrorist outfit that Barack Obama's bomb-throwing pals Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn helped to organize. Just more of Barack's unsavory associates. Ho-hum. Its in nine parts.
Watch them before Obama's thugs get them pulled from YouTube. Unless, of course, you don't care.

How's that Bailout working for you? - Part 2
The medicine isn't working. Some are saying we need to take a bigger dose or add more meds. Others are recommending major surgery.
I think that the doctors are killing the patient. Can't socialism wait until Obama is elected?
---
The No Shit, Sherlock! award goes to President Bush for his elementary deduction today: anxiety is feeding market instability. Wasn't it President Bush that kept saying we were headed for catastrophe that could only be averted by a huge bailout when the old feeder told him he ought to be jawboning up investor confidence? That is the trouble with government; they just won't listen to me.

Che is gone, but the lies live on
On this day in 1967 a coward died a coward's death. Che Guevara:
Why idiots on the left continue to idolize this murdering communist thug is beyond me. Even Barack Obama won't condemn the man whose own comrades called "The Pig"

"Don't shoot!," he whimpered after dropping his fully loaded weapons. "I'm Che! I'm worth more to you alive than dead!"Read about how Che died shitting his pants, then learn how a real hero faces death in this excellent article by Henry Fontova.
