Does the ACLU know about this plot?

Sheep are forced to perform in Jesus cult ritual
**Christians are planning a blatant display of their cult-like beliefs in a Cozad, Nebraska public park. These culturally insensitive plans, hatched in a darkened City Council meeting, involve the use of innocent children and helpless live animals. From the **Tri-City Tribune News:
Several Cozad churches will unite efforts to present a Community Christmas Pageant again this year.

Cozad's City Council OK'd the request Monday, allowing for the production to be staged at Veteran's Park at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 16th.

Joan Lindekugel, who organized the first pageant a year ago, indicated to the council by letter that the pageant will be similar and will feature live Nativity scenes.
Where is the outrage?

More shocking news from the Political Correctness front via Wizbang: I'm offended, therefore I am.
---
**Important Note**: The Christmas plot thickens. As soon as this post was published, the Tri-City Tribune mysteriously dropped off the internets. All I can get is: Bad Request (Invalid Hostname). Here is a cached version of the secret Cozad Jesus pageant story.

Is it just an internet glitch? Are Cozad's Christmas cultists going underground? Has the Tri-City Tribune site been hacked by PETA? Developing...

I don't Cair, it just ain't right!

No butts-up prayer on the production line
Right here in Nebraska. What a gigantic violation of Political Correctness, sticking like a plank from our state's eye. Nebraska Mohammedans are unhappy, even crying because we are so insensitive. These Somali immigrants will burn in hell if they don't pray right on time, but they risk humiliation and loss of their meat-packing jobs if they leave the production line to do so. From the AP:
Supervisors at a Swift & Co. meatpacking plant have fired or harassed dozens of Somali Muslim employees for trying to pray at sunset, violating civil rights laws, the workers and their advocates say.

The five- to 10-minute prayer, known as the maghrib, must be done within a 45-minute window around sunset, according to Muslim rules. The workers at the Swift & Co. plant in Grand Island say they quit, were fired or were verbally and physically harassed over the issue.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has drafted a complaint to be filed with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The petition compiles testimony from at least 44 workers who had planned to sign the complaint during a meeting Sunday. The signing was changed to a later date because of a logistical problem.

Jama Mohamed, 28, said he was fired in June for leaving a production line to pray.
These Somali immigrants are either ungrateful assholes or are being manipulated by CAIR. Next they will want us to let them take family leave for honor killings.
---
From the liberal progressive side, the New Nebraska Network says this about the prostrating packers: "It does us no good to pretend this is simply a Muslim problem: it isn't. It's a worker's rights problem, it's a problem of religious freedom... it's our problem." We're not worthy to have these holy guests.

From Atlas Shrugs, a warning: "No one should take a job they can't fulfill. Seriously. Islam is winning." I think we have some open prayer slots left on the pork sausage line; they can take those.
---
As if Nebraska didn't have enough planks stuck in its eye, PETA is trying to shut down our packing plants that practice Kosher slaughter. They have even gotten a special prosecutor to investigate the practices of Local Pride, a packing plant in Gordon, Nebraska.

The plant had been shuttered before a Jewish family joined up with the Oglala Lakota tribe to reopen it. It goes without saying that PETA wants to destroy the meat industry, no matter who gets hurt.

Green Meat fights Global Warming

Fight Global Warming- Eat Green Meat

Fatwa Vinnie's is where I first saw the story. Read his Vince aut Morire post about the USDA warning. A beef (and other meat) 'shortage' looms as a result of the diversion of corn from animal feed to the production of ethanol. Really it is a non-story, as I commented at Vinnie's: the economics are right out of Econ101, but everyone likes to plead ignorance of the law of supply and demand. Vinnie wants no knee-jerk reaction to an Al Gore driven global warming scare to stand between him and his frequent meals of flesh.

Nebraska is the Beef State. It may be one of the few places where the Porterhouse is still popular. The diversion of corn to ethanol production should be more of an economic wash here. Much of the 'extra cost' of higher meat prices will stay right here since we grow corn, feed cattle and produce ethanol. That just means Al Gore won't be able to price us out of our steak dinners; another, more insidious result still lurks. Green meat.

Since many feeders are going to to feed less corn, they will be substituting feedstuffs either normally too costly or of less quality. Beef won't taste the same. I like corn fed beef. It ain't the same as fish meal fed beef. Maybe this is how the PETA wingnuts are finally going to get Al Gore & His Followers on the vegetarian bandwagon. Green meat will taste so bad, nobody will want to eat it, not even big Al.

Thats all we need. More alliances in the axis of wacky.

Addendum: I looked all over to find pictures or videos of Al Gore eating meat. There wasn't anything I thought was suitable, so I made the green porterhouse above. But Terry_Jim at the Lazy Half S Ranch found this old CNN story about Al Gore helping to grill "thick burgers, bulging sausages, chicken breasts and pork chops." Along with this great picture:

PETA coming to Omaha

If you get bored this rainy weekend, you might want to stop by Omaha, Nebraska's Old Market Hippie Zone. The fruits from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and their alter ego, GoVeg, will be putting on a Big Demo there this Sunday. They promise to have nude human vegetarians wrapped in cellophane and lying on platters. How kinky is that?
--
After the demo, the old feeder recommends a nice meal at one of Omaha's famous steakhouses.

Killing Fields

Pardon the title; it's actually hunting season. Unless the supermarkets run out of food my hunting days are probably over. You're more apt to find me scrounging around the woods with a camera or a bow saw to retrieve an interesting piece of wood. But that doesn't mean I'm anti-hunting. Far from it.

When I was a teenager I used to live for hunting season so I know how much it means to the people who wait all year for it and tend to stay out of their way so as not to spoil their solitude and chances of success.. When done right taking the life of an animal is not a bad thing. I believe a good hunter knows more about the life and habits of his prey than most anti-hunters. And I think a reflective hunter has a good understanding of death and our finite span of years on this wondrous earth.

There are also a number of yahoos with guns who have little respect for anything or anyone and I've done what I could over the years to make trouble for them.

Autumn is here and there is game in the field for those who want to go after it.

Hose down the hogs, It is hot!

Don't forget to pack a lunch for them.
The thermometer here at the feedlot reads 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The barn swallows sit on the wire and hang their wings open to catch a breeze. If I was a dog, I'd get under the porch.

Seriously, the heat is hard on animals. Swine don't have sweat glands, so they need to help to cool off. Followers of modern agricultural methods frown on the old hog waller approach to warm weather swine care. With the exception of a few hippy types, most hog producers today use a water mist cooling system. If you only keep a few hogs for the larder, you can just hose 'em down. The pigs like it.

You could just take them to the beach with you. You will have the happiest hogs in the county. So happy that yuppies and non-PETA cognoscenti will pay extra to eat them.

Canadian Seal Hunters Need Your Old Baseball Bats

"And me without a bat, eh?"
The annual seal hunt starts today in Canada. In spite of global warming caused thin ice, public disapproval from PETA duped entertainment stars, and carping from moonbats, the hunt goes on. But some of these poor North Americans, who depend on the seal harvest to feed their kids, had to stay home because of the acute club shortage now affecting the Northern Provinces. Our neighbors need our help. The problem and what you can do to make a difference follows.

It seems the Norwegian seal hunters, smarting from accusations of 'live skinning', have bought up almost every suitable bat in the northern hemisphere. That is why our neighbors to the north need our help. I'm sure every red-blooded American reading this has at least one or two old baseball bats in the garage or a closet that they don't use any more. These bats (only the wooden ones, aluminum bats are forbidden by the Seal Hunter's Union) are just perfect for clubbing baby seals. Dig out those old Louisville Sluggers, and encourage your friends to do the same. Help build up our tattered relations with the Canucks!

In order to get these bats into the hands of the seal hunters up north, the old feeder plans to organize a bat collection and delivery road trip. Any volunteers? Eh?
---
Update: Once the Canadian clubbing got underway, things turned ugly. The Plains Feeder seal bat delivery road trip is cancelled at least until the old feeder can get a new fake passport.

More Hog Tasering

As the Feeder noted in a previous post, hogs appear to be the animal of choice for testing Taser non-lethal weapons. I asked where PETA was while this shocking hog torture was going on in the name of Homeland Security. PETA must have gotten the clue. A new study is planned right in that stronghold of animal rights, Madison Wisconsin, and PETA is right on top of it.

the pigs in this new study are being sacrificed in the name of liberal wuss-ism, and not some benighted neo-con idea like Homeland Security, as an AP story reprinted here, "Professor to Test Stun Guns on Pigs", points out. The aim of this sudy is to see if Taser-happy cops are killing our suspected perps. Even so, this isn't good ehough for the PETA bunch.

"I think this is an outstanding example of one of those questions that can only be answered using animals," said Eric Sandgren, a UW-Madison professor who heads a committee that oversees animal research. "Boy, there's been a lot of deaths from this. If the alternative is to go back to using bullets, let's find out how to make this safe."

That's a worthy goal, but researchers should instead study humans who have survived Taser shocks and autopsy reports of those who died, said Laura Yanne of PETA. She promised an "unprecedented" protest on Tuesday, but would not release details.

"Subjecting pigs to cruel experiments is not the way to go on this. It's so obvious," she said.
In an effort to simulate true life situations where cops Taser bad guys, some of the hogs tested will be hopped up on cocaine before being shocked. I would think the professor could find human volunteers among the numerous dopers at Madison. The promise of govenment-grade cocaine for a bit of a shock should have test subjects lining up.

The Beef State and PETA

Today Is International Eat An Animal For PETA Day. I wouldn't have known this except for the sharp cats at Wizbang, who can turn any story into an excuse to run some titty pictures.
( I am pinning my hopes for bloggy success on emulating the Wizbang tit policy.)
This sort of Special Day goes pretty much ignored here in the
Beef State
.

Yes, we love our meat and tolerate our PETA freaks. Even pinko Omaha, the home of Omaha Steaks, Gorat's (Warren 'BillionaireLib' Buffet's favorite), Farmer Brown's (although their best location is in Waterloo, just west of Elkhorn), dozens of other steak and chop joints, and countless barbecue fans, puts up with a bit of meat-eating. Witness their short-lived slogan campaign "Omaha, Rare Well Done":

But the evil, out-of-touch Omaha city council recently passed a city ordinance that would ban having a charcoal grill on an apartment balcony. This pissed people off so bad they had to tell the police they didn't have to enforce it. The cops didn't want to be pressed into becoming the cook-out police. They changed their slogan to O! (Remember the Story of O!) Did I mention that the Omaha city government is crazy? Who wouldn't want to a part of all this?

Hogs Make Sacrifices for Homeland Security

I was nosing around the CBS News web site to find a feedback link that would work with Mozilla when I saw this story: Study Questions Stun Gun Safety. It seems this study, "done by the Air Force and obtained by CBS News, found that repeated shocks from a Taser stun gun led to heart damage in pigs." Even Dan Rather wouldn't gin up a story like this with a fake document, so I checked it out.

American liberals tend to be against the police having any really effective tools. They imagine a Euro-Bobby sort of constabulary that would settle problems with quotations from Dr. Phil and having prescription-writing authority. I'm sure the sensitives at CBS wouldn't have the cops go back to low tech nightsticks and come-alongs. Perhaps someone will screw the taxpayers into paying for a study to see if repeated application of the traditional 'stun baton' or nightstick could lead to head damage.

And where's PETA while these pigs are getting Tasered until they have palpitations? Off scaring the kids at some chicken restaurant.

Al Sharpton: will not eat at KFC; thinks you shouldn't either - NYT

It could have been your town. Badly beaten birds were found stuffed into bags, drugged, covered with feathers and smeared with their own feces. The words "KFC" and "chicken dinner" were emblazoned on the bags. The birds were badly burned, their skin almost crispy in places. This shocking birdist outrage would have gone unnoticed in the heartless carnivore that is America, but for The Reverend Al Sharpton. He says the shocking bird abuse is a capitalist plot to bloody the hands of unwitting negroes and he wants it to stop. When asked if he thought this might be another hoax, like Tawana Brawley's bagging and tagging, he said, "No way, man! These chickens can't talk."
