According to Babalu Blog, anyhow. I'm pretty sure you won't see many kids dressed up as Barack Obama tonight: too racist.
The old feeder doesn't observe Halloween. The feedlot is such a scary place that I have never, ever had any trick-or-treat cats show up. My birthday falls on the Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos). That is the day I take a holiday.
---
Want have some real adult Halloween fun this year? Its not too late. Right now, take a trip to the nearest Wal-Mart. Put these items (and only these items) in your cart: a large box of real candy apples, two big sacks of Halloween-size Snickers bars, a dozen packs of assorted sewing needles and six dispensers of double-edged razor blades. Talk like you are excited about seeing the trick-or-treaters tonight as you check out. The look on the cashier's face before he or she calls security will be well worth the ensuing hassle. Hey! It was just a joke! Honest!

The Informed Voter
Watch the enlightening video I saw at Wizbang blog. From a voter who hopes to be on the buttered side of Barack Obama's Marxist plan to spread the wealth:
---
Seriously, I think everyone should get out and vote for John McCain. Don't let the biased polls, the fake conservative blog commenters and the liars in the news media put you off. It ain't over until its over.
I never thought this day would happen. . . .Ain't democracy grand?
I won't have to work on puttin' gas in my car.
I won't have to work at payin' my mortgage.
You know.
If I help him (Obama), he's gonna help me.

Obama: the next Castro or Mugabe?
John McCain got a great reception in Miami yesterday. Florida has so many Americans who have their roots in Cuba that it comes as no surprise. If you want to hear about what Marxism (call it what you want: socialism, progressivism, communism, fabianism, collectivism, whatever) can do for America just listen to the Cubans. They know exactly what they are talking about; they either experienced it first hand or heard about it from their immigrant parents, Marxism ruined their former homeland.
For reasons I won't go into, I have always had a personal sympathy for Cuba. The cold war never came so close to going hot as it did over Cuba. Thinking about that doped-up rat JFK and his shameful treachery at the Bay of Pigs makes my blood boil.
Check out the McCain Miami visit story at here Babalu Blog. More than that, though, take a few minutes to go to their main page, scroll down to the Blog Roll there in the right-hand column entitled Cubiches. (The blogroll can only be found on the main page) Visit some of these blogs. These cats know what redistributionists promise as well as what they actually deliver.
---
A frequent commenter here, Canuckguy, who hails from our neighbor to the north, thinks Obama will bring Marxism to America the same way that Robert Mugabe brought Marxism to Zimbabwe-Rhodesia. What an awful prospect for Nebraska, an agricultural state. I suppose all the poor and homeless from America's big cities will be moved to our rural areas to work the farms after they have been seized from their fat-cat white owners.
Lots of my friends are Kulaks.

Gateway, I was born and raised in Miami, Florida.
Both my father and grandfather were members of the Brigada 2506, Bay of Pigs regiment, that went to topple Castro in 61' and was betrayed and abandoned by a young, charismatic and naive President. (sound familiar)
My father then went on to work for the "Company" in the 60's, 70's and 80's. (as well as being a RE developer)
Yesterday we both went to that event on Calle Ocho, the heart & bastion of the Cuban American community.
We know first hand the misguided belief that "change" is needed, at any cost or thought, and to give over power to a person who wanted to spread the wealth around, too!!!
Wake up America, let's stand up and fight for our grand and glorious Republic...
Let us defeat the enemies of Liberty.

Taking Wednesday off from the Barack Obama Show
The old feeder is taking the day off today, having had a pleasant lunch in West Omaha and taken a tour past some of the nice houses in the area. I couldn't help think that these must some of the Wich Peepow Rich People Barney Frank keeps lisping about. You know, the ones pulling down obscene incomes of $150,000 a year and more. I hope none of my friends depend on these cats for their jobs.

Cop a laugh
I saw this one at Are We Lumberjacks? Its funny, but you had better not call Barack Obama a redistributor. Someone will claim you said he was a nigger. It happened at a Sarah Palin rally in Des Moines, Iowa last Saturday.
Someone in the crowd shouted "He's a redistributor!" The ever-so-sensitive to racism Obama camp thought the cry was "He's a nigger!" and promptly took Sarah Palin to task for failing to "do anything" about it. Michelle Malkin has the story.
---
Next we will hear that "redistributor" is another code word.

Bloggy Business:
The old feeder was nominated for a Superior Scribbler Award by Jeffro of The Poor Farm. I'm honored, but the award, originated by the Scholastic Scribe, is beset with rules and obligations , both of which I am naturally inclined to ignore. Because I have great respect for Jeffro, I shall make an effort to comply. I posted the graphic, linked to the nominator and the rules, added my name to 'the list' and left a comment at the Scholastic Scribe site.
All that remains is for me to nominate five more bloggers. Without further ado, I nominate Angela of the Domestic Divapalooza, Genevieve of Prairie Bluestem, Uncle Wiggily of the Heartland Notebook, Chris McClure the Panhandle Poet, and my feedlot co-blogger Abe of Don't Let Me Stop You. I thoght hard anout nominating the Mickeys (of many many blogs), but I couldn't figure out how many nominations the old beatnik would count for.
---
I've also been tagged by Angela. I'm lousy at these things, but I enjoy following her Domestic Divapalooza and she is a good internet friend. I think all I have to do here is list 10 things you might not know about me. That is easy.

A word to those tagged and nominated herein: don't feel obligated to follow up on this business. It won't hurt my feelings if you blow it off. I only do this stuff when I feel like it, which isn't often. Today, I needed something to get my mind off of the coming elections.

An Obama Administration will pitch America toward EU domestic policy and UN foreign policy. Thomas Sowell is right: It would be a “point of no return”, the most explicit repudiation of the animating principles of America. For a vigilant republic of limited government and self-reliant citizens, it would be a Declaration of Dependence.Vote accordingly!
If a majority of Americans want that, we holdouts must respect their choice. But, if you don’t want it, vote accordingly.

Can Obama take the oath of the office he seeks?
How could Barack Obama take this oath when he believes that the Constitution is fundamentally flawed?
Barack Obama believes the US Constitution is nothing more than a 'remarkable political document', not the most basic law of the land, the very foundation upon which rests our republic. As Kim Priestap points out at Wizbang Blog, Barack constantly refers to the US Constitution in the past tense. Barack is a lawyer, this use of language isn't accidental, it is base sophistry. From Kim's post:
---
What Barack's friends Bill Ayers and the Weathermen could not accomplish with bombs, and what his mentor Frank Marshall Davis could not do with words, Barack Obama thinks he can do by flouting the presidential oath of office. That oath includes no promise to "break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers" in the Constitution. If he swears or affirms that oath he will be lying.
BFD, I guess. We already know Barack to be a liar.
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.Listen to this audio that is linked on the Drudge Report today. It is from a Chicago Public Radio Show, Odyssey, which aired in 2001. Then listen to this other excerpt. (The entire hour-long show may be heard with RealPlayer from the original CPR archives here.) I already knew Obama was a Marxist. What these tapes reveal is how deeply he has internalized Marxist thinking and how little respect he has for the great men and women who came before him.
First, note that during all of his remarks he speaks of the Constitution in past tense instead of in present tense. I don't remember hearing any nominee to the US Supreme Court speak of the Constitution in this manner, so this is more than semantics.Leftist views? These ideas go far beyond what we commonly call leftist views. What Barack Obama wants to do is nothing short of the imposition of morally and economically bankrupt Marxist thought on America through the corruption of our Constitution. As Steve Schippert writes at Wizbang: "Barack Obama, the favorite to be elected the President of the United States of America in barely a week's time, sees the American Constitution as an obstacle rather than a guiding document." What has happened to the Democrat party? Joe the plumber's fears were well founded.
---
Second, he calls the Constitution a "remarkable political document." I think it's fair to say that our Constitution is more than just a political document. It's the supreme law of our nation. It's the foundation of our republic. It outlines our freedoms by stating clearly what the government can't do to us and there's a reason why our Founding Fathers deliberately structured it that way. The President of the United States is required to swear to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States. However, by listening to what Obama said in this interview and the 2001 interview that Steve posted earlier it's clear: he thinks the Constitution is fundamentally flawed. And based upon his words what other logical conclusion can someone come to other than Obama doesn't think the Constitution should be protected but should be radically altered so it reflects his leftist views.

Who Should We Trust on Foreign Policy?
It's hard to make a better foreign policy case for McCain than Obama's running mate, Joe Biden, did the other day. However, Melanie Phillips is up to the task:
I'm still trying to figure out what exactly Biden meant when he told the crowd of Democrat fundraisers that they needed to stand behind Obama in the upcoming crisis, because his decision(s) would appear to be wrong. Did he mean Obama would cave to a threat, showing weakness before aggression, and embolden our enemies everywhere? That's certainly plausible, and it would mean Joe was asking them to stand behind Obama, because no one else would. Alternatively, was he saying that Obama would respond aggressively and recklessly to a situation, say by invading Pakistan, to show he's tough, and the fundraising group would be shocked and dismayed? Hope we don't have to find out...
Another cross-post from DLMSY.
The Spectator: "No, the only way to assess their position is to look at each man in the round, at what his general attitude is towards war and self-defence, aggression and appeasement, the values of the west and those of its enemies and – perhaps most crucially of all – the nature of the advisers and associates to whom he is listening. As I have said before, I do not trust McCain; I think his judgment is erratic and impetuous, and sometimes wrong. But on the big picture, he gets it. He will defend America and the free world whereas Obama will undermine them and aid their enemies. It's an excellent article, and you should read the rest.
Here’s why. McCain believes in protecting and defending America as it is. Obama tells the world he is ashamed of America and wants to change it into something else. McCain stands for American exceptionalism, the belief that American values are superior to tyrannies. Obama stands for the expiation of America’s original sin in oppressing black people, the third world and the poor."
Obama thinks world conflicts are basically the west’s fault, and so it must right the injustices it has inflicted. That’s why he believes in ‘soft power’ — diplomacy, aid, rectifying ‘grievances’ (thus legitimising them, encouraging terror and promoting injustice) and resolving conflict by talking. As a result, he will take an axe to America’s defences at the very time when they need to be built up. He has said he will ‘cut investments in unproven missile defense systems’; he will ‘not weaponize space’; he will ‘slow our development of future combat systems’; and he will also ‘not develop nuclear weapons,’ pledging to seek ‘deep cuts’ in America’s arsenal, thus unilaterally disabling its nuclear deterrent as Russia and China engage in massive military buildups.
I'm still trying to figure out what exactly Biden meant when he told the crowd of Democrat fundraisers that they needed to stand behind Obama in the upcoming crisis, because his decision(s) would appear to be wrong. Who Should We Trust on Economics?
If John McCain loses this election, chances are the chief reason will be the concerns we all have about the economy and the current financial crisis. Arguably, McCain's instincts to return to Washington to work on the "emergency" bailout bill were noble. They're certainly in tune with his overall perspective on every issue: Country First. However, Obama's decision to stay as far as possible from the negotiations paid off. The press and the rest of the Democrats falsely, but successfully, laid the blame for the crisis on Pres. Bush and the markets. Obama and McCain were neck-and-neck when the crisis broke, but Obama opened and held a lead as events developed.
As much as everyone is fed up with the Bush Administration, let's consider which party and which presidential candidate is better equipped to deal with the ongoing economic problems we face. There are essentially two ways of looking at society and the economy: from an individualistic standpoint or a collectivist one. Remarking on the Joe the Plumber phenomenon, Jonah Goldberg writes on National Review Online:
There certainly are exceptions to the party breakdown on this point. John McCain has hardly been a staunch supporter of limited government and the individual in economic policies. It's impossible to argue that George W. Bush has been keeping the size and role of government in check. There probably are some Democrats who support minimizing the government's interference in markets and letting people keep what they earn, but I am unable to come up with any examples of prominent figures in the Democrat party today.
The collectivist view calls for government to "create jobs." The individualist view sees that real jobs only come from private enterprise. The visible jobs "created" by government spending are more than matched by the less visible jobs lost or not created in the private sector.
The ultimate outcomes of these two competing visions are easy to see, if we look. Low taxes and economic freedom are always associated with growth, jobs, flexible adaptation to changes, and rising standards of living. High taxes and extensive government regulation of economic activities are always associated with slow/no growth, misallocations of resources, high unemployment, and stagnation. Taken to its limits (i.e. Marxism), the collectivist view destroys the private sector and even leads to complete breakdown of society and famine. These results are consistent, wherever they are tried: the stagnation of European socialism; the growth of tax-cutting European states; the perpetual economic failures of communist governments; and the improvements even there when markets are allowed to work.
The American economy is still the envy of the world, but that is not our birthright. It is the result of our sustained commitment to economic freedom and individualism. That system is threatened today. As a result of the bailout much of the banking system is effectively nationalized at this point. It is imperative that these companies be returned to private hands as soon as practical. Otherwise the banking system will become just another political honey pot, used to reward favored groups. Meanwhile, the main causes of the crisis, the quasi-government/quasi-private Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not dead, and the political forces that created them are still in place. We need to drive stakes through the hearts of these companies now to make sure they are never allowed to re-awaken and repeat the activities that brought us to the brink of financial ruin.
Frankly, I don't know if we can trust John McCain to make the right economic decisions going forward. However, it is completely clear that Barack Obama and potentially large Democrat majorities in the House and Senate are sure to make the wrong decisions for our economic future. We can at least hope that McCain will counter some bad policies.
Obama's history shows a consistent desire to ally and align himself with far left people and groups. His proposed "tax cuts" are nothing but income transfer plans, welfare checks to those who don't work paid for with confiscatory taxes on those who do. He, like many Democrats, speak as though all private income rightfully belongs to the government. His appetite for massive, new government programs to solve all society's ills is insatiable: national healthcare; new alternative energy schemes; new payments to the UN; a new Dept. of Peace and Non-Violence; and more. He has shown hostility toward free trade in talking of "renegotiating" NAFTA and opposing the free trade agreement with Columbia. It's widely agreed that the Great Depression was precipitated in part by the protectionism of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act.
Free market capitalism is not just the most efficient mechanism for organizing a society and generating wealth. It is also the most moral, because if you want something from someone else you must offer something of value in return. Obama's rhetoric is full of class warfare clichés and denunciations of "trickledown economics." He is set to sweep into office promising only "change" with a crisis to justify whatever he defines that change to be, and a huge partisan majority to enact his visions. Based on what he tells us of his plans and what we can guess he is not telling us, this would be extremely bad.

There are essentially two ways of looking at society and the economy: from an individualistic standpoint or a collectivist one. Remarking on the Joe the Plumber phenomenon, Jonah Goldberg writes on National Review Online:
"Who knows what it will do for McCain in the end, but the Joe the Plumber phenomenon is real. At the rally, supporters carried handmade signs reading “Phil the Bricklayer” and “Rose the Teacher.” Wurzelbacher symbolizes an optimistic, individualistic vision of America sorely lacking — until recently — in McCain’s rhetoric. The two parties embody these competing visions of economic policies, although imperfectly. The Republican ideals are those of individual effort, risk taking, and the freedom to win rewards or suffer failure. This is the view of the individual in control of his/her own destiny and responsible for what he/she makes of opportunities. The Democrat view is that most people are not able to fend for themselves, and it is the responsibility of society to take care of them through government actions. The individualist view leads to a desire to keep taxes down and the sphere of government actions limited. The collectivist view leads to a desire to add new government programs, expand existing ones, and seek an ever higher share of the "national wealth" to promote "fairness."
Barack Obama, in contrast, has offered the most rhetorically eloquent defense of collectivism since Franklin D. Roosevelt. In his biographical video at the Democratic convention, he proclaimed that in America, “one person’s struggle is all of our struggles.” In his acceptance speech, he artfully replaced the idea of the American dream with the century-old progressive nostrum of “America’s promise.”
But the two visions are in opposition: the former individualistic, the latter collectivist. We each have our own idea of the American dream. Joe the Plumber’s is to own a small plumbing company; yours might be something else entirely. In America, that’s fine, because the pursuit of happiness is an individual, not a collective, right."

Weekend Election Odds and Ends
The newspapers and television news shows in the US are so blatantly biased in favor of Obama that the Russian news outlets have noticed (Gateway Pundit). Today's reporters were schooled in activist 'I want to make a difference' journalism, the style spawned by opposition to the Viet-Nam war and emboldened by the Watergate take-down of President Richard Nixon. They are anxious to report the story of a lifetime: a black president (Mark R. Levin). Some of the journalists themselves are embarrassed by the lack of professional objectivity in the media coverage of this election (Michael Malone).
The Fourth Estate wants Republicans to assume the election is already over and Obama has won. We might as well stay home an election day and get our guns and 401k papers ready to hand over to Uncle Sugar. If you have a son or daughter in the military service or off working for a defense contractor, you might want to spend the day getting their room ready for them to come back home.
The media goes on about Sarah Palin's clothes while Obama's blatant voter fraud (NewsBusters) and campaign finance shenanigans (Atlas Shrugs) (Mark Steyn) are largely ignored. If a reporter does an interview that actually brings up the issues, as Barbara West of WFTV Orlando (watch it at NewsBusters) did with Joe Biden, they are roundly criticized and promptly thrown under the bus.

On a more positive note, it was heartening to see this video of Fred Thompson making sense of the choices facing voters the coming election. Here is an excerpt:

Because it is the weekend and because the old feeder has become mulishly doctrinaire, embarrassingly cynical and even insensitive in his election rants and comments of late, I shall try to include some levity. I really do need to lighten up, especially now that I can't take my nerve pills any more.
DadGum tipped me off to this little bit of election related Zydeco music he found at Small Dead Animals. The video looks like it was filmed at the feedlot. Did I mention that the old I'm part Acadian French on my Father's side of the family? Probably not.

Cheesecake Update: You may have heard of Frank Marshall Davis, the bohemian, communist, pornographer, poet, amateur photographer, jazz fan and early mentor to Barack Obama. Mr. Davis was also an friend of Obama's mother and her father. Now it appears that Barack's mother may have appeared in some of Mr. Davis' home-made cheesecake nudie photos. I'm not going to touch these naughty poses with a 10 foot pole, but you can see them here.
These pictures, combined with a few other possibly coincidental facts and a perceived similarity between Barack and a son of Frank Davis, have fueled speculation that Frank Marshall Davis might be Barack's biological father. That might explain, among other things, Obama's reluctance to produce a long-form birth certificate. Posts from the Astute Bloggers sum up the convoluted mess: here and here and here.
This kind of stuff makes my head hurt. The story may be titillating, but I know I wouldn't like folks plastering nudie pictures of my mother on the internet. And what difference would it make if Barack's bio dad was Frank Davis or the gardener or anyone else? (Assuming he would still be a 'natural born' US citizen and thus eligible to hold the office of president.)
Before these naked pictures hit the blogs, I was already concerned about the influence that the degenerate communist Frank Marshall Davis had on young Barack Obama. The facts of that relationship made me suspicious. If this stuff is true, it will make me sick. [H/T the Mickeys]
---
On a more positive note, it was heartening to see this video of Fred Thompson making sense of the choices facing voters the coming election. Here is an excerpt:
Let there be no doubt that an Obama administration and a heavily Democratically controlled Congress would change the face of this nation. Only you can decide whether or not the ways in which they would change it would be a good thing.Don't like to watch Fred? Read the script here.
I don’t believe it. And John McCain doesn’t. John McCain’s entire life has been devoted to defending those principles that made our country great. It has been one of duty, honor, dedication and sacrifice. He has been involved in every major domestic and foreign policy issue for three decades and has fought to reform and change Washington in ways that would change our country for the better.

Every time I turn on the internet these days, it seems like another right wing blogger is digging up more baloney on Professor Bill Ayers. Apparently these people would rather talk about Bill Ayers' passionate youthful rambunctiousness than the issues that really matter to us, like Sarah Palin's shoe bill. Well, I've got a message for you, Mister Google cache McCarthy fascist: I'm mad as H-E-double sippy straws, and I'm not going to take it any more. No longer will I remain silent while you smear and slur this great America-hating American with his own quotes. Hear me now: when you mess with Bill Ayers, you're messing with me.The IowaHawk says the post is "preemptive compliance with the coming Fairness Doctrine". Ayers says "call the oinkers!"

The Wheel of Suffering and Joe the plumber
You will become that which you hate. The foregoing is a corollary of the hoariest truth of them all: What goes around, comes around. A good example of the way this corollary works is found in one of today's posts at Wizbang blog:
Yesterday evening, Ace published a tip he got which said that Ohio government employees in three state agencies improperly used government computers to dig up information on Joe the Plumber. The computers that were used were from the state attorney general's office, the Toledo Police Department, and the Cuyahoga County Child Enforcement Agency. Ace said the story would break in the next 2-3 days. Well it hit Drudge last night. Here's the story from The Columbus Dispatch. The liberals will become exactly what they have hated so much. They will think it is a triumph.

Hmmm. And so many on the Left were foaming at the mouth about law enforcement listening in on suspected terrorists' overseas phone calls.

Latest Barack Obama Reading List
I've already made my position clear. I'm against Barack Obama. This post is incremental.
When he was campaigning for the Democrat Party nomination, nobody knew who Obama was, where he came from or what his policies were. In the ensuing months those of us that cared to make the effort have discovered him to be a national socialist with a history of associations with violent revolutionaries, class-warfare thugs, unscrupulous political machine operatives and racist hate-mongers. We now can see that he stands for socialist redistribution of wealth and the nationalization of key industries. In short, we can see him for what he really is: a National Socialist.
This knowledge was hard-won. Much of it comes to light at this late hour in the 2008 election because much of it has been actively concealed, obfuscated, scrubbed, revised and lied about by the Obama camp and their dupes in the media. What follows is simply a compendium of the latest revelations in this process of getting to know Barack Obama.

Curiously, old-school International Marxists don't like Obama. They see him as I do, a National Socialist inextricably teamed with big-money power brokers. This is the very same reason traditionalist Reds in Germany opposed the National Socialist upstart, Hitler. It goes to prove what I've always said: that Nazis and Red Communists are not in any sense polar opposites, they merely quibble over the preferred implementation of Marxist thought.

Update: Babalu blog has this story of how the Cuban Dirección General de Inteligencia assisted the illegal activities of Ayers' Weather Underground during the time they were setting bombs and escaping from the FBI. Read it here: Surprise! Cuban DGI helped Ayers and the Weather Underground. In those days, the DGI was essentially an arm of the Soviet KGB, which had many connections to the US antiwar movement, supplying money, training, terrorist materials and weapons to any anti-American outfit that would take them.

Zombietime: William Ayers' forgotten communist manifesto: Prairie Fire.
This essay only exists to correct and unequivocally debunk claims routinely made by the mainstream media over the last few weeks about William Ayers, his beliefs, and the purpose behind his bombing campaign during the 1970s.---
Specifically, when questions arose during the 2008 presidential race about Barack Obama's past associations with William Ayers, many media reports and articles blandly described Ayers as a "Vietnam-era radical" and the Weather Underground as a group that set bombs "to protest against the Vietnam War." Both of these characterizations are demonstrably inaccurate.
Furthermore: Obama and his supporters at first claimed he barely knew who Ayers was, but when public awareness of the connections between Obama and Ayers became too numerous and too strong to deny, Obama's supporters have now begun resorting to a fallback position: that William Ayers wasn't such a bad guy after all, and that it is no shame to be associated with him.
Confederate Yankee: Just a Little Genocide.
Testimony of FBI informant Larry Grathwohl about a meeting of the Weather Underground he attended. The very outfit led by Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn:---I asked, "well what is going to happen to those people we can't reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?" and the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated.
And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers.
And when I say "eliminate," I mean "kill."
Twenty-five million people.
I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people.
And they were dead serious.
Politically Drunk On Power! blog: Web Archives Confirm Barack Obama Was Member Of Socialist 'New Party' In 1996.
I discovered a web page that had been scrubbed from the New Party's website. The web page which was published in October 1996, was an internet newsletter update on that years congressional races. Although the web page was deleted from the New Party's website, the non-profit Internet Archive Organization had archived the page.---
From the October 1996 Update of the DSA 'New Party':
"New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races...
Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary)."
---
"New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George's County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago. "
NewsBusters: Will MSM Report on Obama Membership in Socialist New Party?
The mainstream media thought that the membership of Todd Palin, who is not a candidate for any office, in the Alaska Independence Party important enough to report in such outlets as the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, and the New York Times, among others.---
So now that Barack Obama's membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization?
WND: Newspaper shows Obama belonged to socialist party.
The New Party, formed by members of the Democratic Socialists for America and leaders of an offshoot of the Community Party USA, was an electoral alliance that worked alongside the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The New Party's aim was to help elect politicians to office who espouse its policies.Gateway Pundit: Barack Obama Praises Fellow New Party Member & Quasi-Marxist Danny Davis. References the Founding Bloggers: "We share the same values."
---
Obama's campaign has responded to the allegations, denying the presidential candidate was ever a member of the New Party.
But the New Zeal blog dug up print copies of the New Party News, the party's official newspaper, which show Obama posing with New Party leaders, list him as a New Party member and include quotes from him.
---
The New Party's current website has no real content except for a link to the website for another socialist outfit's web, Working Families, which endorses Barack Obama.
---
The TownCrier blog: Obama was a member of the Socialist Party in Chicago.
Obama was speaker at 1996 meeting of the Democratic Socialists of America. He has been verified as being a member.---
---
Chicago DSA is affiliated with the national Democratic Socialists of America but is separately incorporated. Anyone paying national membership dues in the Chicago area is automatically a member of the Chicago DSA local.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International... We are socialists.
Democratic socialists believe that... diversity and opportunity necessitates a fundamental restructuring of our socio-economic order... We cannot accept capitalism's conception of economic relations as "free and private,"... The democratic socialist vision... draws upon Marxism, religious and ethical socialism, feminism, and other theories that critique human domination.
Gateway Pundit: Confirmed: MSM Holds Video Of Barack Obama Attending Jew-Bash & Toasting a Former PLO Operative... Refuse to Release the Video!
LA Times writer Peter Wallsten wrote about Barack Obama's close association with former Palestinian operative Rashid Khalidi back in April.---
Wallsten discussed a dinner held back in 2003 in honor of Khalidi, a critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights. Barack Obama has denied his close association with Khalidi, too. Barack Obama also praised the former PLO operative during the event. And, Obama confessed that his family often shared dinner with the Khalidis:His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases... It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation -- a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."
...The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times.
Khalidi and the Obamas were great friends in Chicago and often shared meals together.
By the way, Khalidi was also best friends with Bill Ayers.
Curiously, old-school International Marxists don't like Obama. They see him as I do, a National Socialist inextricably teamed with big-money power brokers. Another Conservative for Obama
We hear lots of stories about Obamacons, conservatives who are supporting TheOne in his quest to ascend to his rightful place in the American firmament. Now another prominent conservative voice has joined the choir:
Another cross-post from DLMSY.
Larijani: Iran prefers Obama - Israel News, Ynetnews: "Iranian parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Wednesday that Iran would prefer Democrat Barack Obama in the White House next year. Larijani also dismissed any idea that the US would attack Iran.Who knew Iran had conservatives, too? We feel better just knowing there are prominent figures in the Iranian government who support small government, the market economy, low taxes and individual liberty. If even Iranian conservatives can come out in support of Barack Obama, we can all rest easier at the prospect of an Obama Dynasty.
'We are leaning more in favor of Barack Obama because he is more flexible and rational, even though we know American policy will not change that much,' Larijani said at a press conference during a visit to Bahrain.
How to deal with Iran and the crisis over its nuclear drive has been one of the foreign policy issues in the Nov. 4 race for the White House between Obama and Republican John McCain.
Larijani, a leading figure in the conservative camp in Iran, also said the United States was too busy dealing with the global financial crisis to consider waging an attack on Iran." [emphasis added]

If "Socialist" is a code word for "Black" then...
Communist must be a code word for Barack Obama.
I heard about this newest and most disgusting play of the presidential election Race Card from the Gateway Pundit: Lewis Diuguid, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist writes that the "Socialist" Label Is Code Word For "Black". Obama really brings out the worst in people. Lewis wouldn't know history if it sat next to him on the bus. The good folks in KC ought to be ashamed.
---
Update: From The Conservative Cat:
Sadly, Mr. Diuguid's analysis tells us more about his state of mind than Senator McCain's. Obama is being labelled as a socialist because of his encounter with Joe the Plumber. Moreover, if socialist is a code word for black, what did it mean when Human Events applied it to John Kerry, and how do you explain the D=S web site? The Cat also connects this piece of low level journalism to a pattern that labels any and all criticism of Obama as racism. He goes on to note that, "[w]hile this tactic is used more often by Obama supporters than Obama himself, those supporters are not going to change when he gets in the White House. Things could get really ugly."
---
More:
It would seem the folks responsible for public safety in America's big cities agree about the coming ugliness. See: The Confederate Yankee: Nationwide, Police Begin Bracing For Obama's Defeat, which cite this article in TheHill.
Police departments are preparing for violence might erupt if Obama, the first black candidate for POTUS) loses the election. Socialists are known for rioting when they don't get their way. I'm not using code here either: blacks have never rioted. Not in the 1960's. Not ever. Not for any reason. No sir.
The writer for TheHill, Alexander Bolton, tries to avoid the racist label by suggesting that the police might also be girding their loins out of concern for what Sarah Palin's supporters might do if John McCain and the second woman vice presidential candidate loses. The Confederate Yankee asks: "does anyone really expect women or Republicans to riot if McCain and Palin aren't elected?"
The media is running scared, and its because of those darn socialists.

Remember and learn
Mohammedan fanatics did this 25 years ago. These terrorist murderers are the same monsters that Barack Obama thinks have legitimate claims. The same madmen that have been supported by Barack Obama's church. We haven't learned the lesson of Islamic Jihad yet.
Perhaps terrorism is just another code-word white folks are using to "do" Obama.

Sarah Palin and net tax consumers
I heard it on the radio today. Glenn Beck interviewed Governor Sarah Palin. It was a short interview, you can read the whole thing in a minute right here. The one thing that caught my ear was this answer Sarah gave when Glenn asked her about Obama's promised net tax cuts:
These people who pay no income taxes at all failing, by any measure, to "pay their fair share." Do you remember the lesson of the Widow's Mite included in the gospels of Mark and Luke? Whether you follow Jesus or not, and even if you are historically sophisticated enough to know there weren't any coins called 'mites' or 'leptons' in Jesus' day, the story makes a valid point about what one's fair share really ought to be. The folks who now pay no income tax ought to pay some sort of symbolic share, but there is still more to the problem than that.
Of course, as Governor Palin points out, the only conceivable way that the folks who don't pay any income tax could get anything like a 'tax cut' from an Obama administration would be for the giver-mint to cut a check for them. You have heard the congressional double-speak that calls such a check a refund. How can one give back (refund) that which was never handed over in the first place? Its just a pretty thin slice of baloney that calls a welfare give-away a refund, but there is a more important aspect to this problem than even this grotesque distortion of the language.
The Real Rub
If there are 40% of Americans who pay no income tax at all today, not even a symbolic mite, what will stop there from being 50% next year? Or even 60%? Won't the same misguided policies that gave us the lopsided taxation system of today continue to tilt the boat? As far as I can see, this question remains almost totally unaddressed by anyone in government or running for office. The consequences of this trend continuing are nothing less than catastrophic.
Ben Franklin said it, but is an obvious truism that "when the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." Is this not exactly what Barack Obama represents? The idea that voting for him will put a government check in your mailbox? Won't this mean the end of the republic? Answer: you bet it will!
The Real Solution
The solution is surprisingly simple, yet every time I have proposed it, I have been met with scorn and derision. You would think I was suggesting something sinister and evil, something utterly un-American. I think we ought to disenfranchise net tax consumers.
The idea that everyone, no matter how poorly they run their own affairs, ought to have a say in running my affairs is what I find sinister. Letting slackers and parasites destroy the republic is what I find un-American. Allowing, even encouraging these same unproductive, non-contributing people to profit from tasking our government with the legalized plunder of productive folks who pay taxes is what I find to be evil.
---
Naturally the solution is too obvious, too simple, even too radical for anyone to consider seriously. You won't miss the republic until it is gone, I guess. As Orson Scott Card wrote: "If pigs could vote, the man with the slop bucket would be elected swineherd every time, no matter how much slaughtering he did on the side."
Barack Obama claims that he will cut income taxes for 95% of Americans. The problem is more than 40% pay no income taxes at all. So how do you cut income taxes for folks who don't pay them? What he's going to do is write them a check and call that a tax cut, even though it's really a tax credit. And where is he going to get all the money for all those checks? By raising taxes on America's families and on our small businesses and folks just like Joe the plumber. Its a good answer, but doesn't really address the disturbing nature of one of the main premises: that "more than 40% pay no income taxes at all". Its bad enough, as Palin rightly points out, to take money from those Americans that do pay income taxes to cut checks for these net tax consumers, but there is more to the problem than that.

We Are All Joe the Plumber
It's official. In less than a week the Dinosaur Media have already spent more time and effort investigating Joe Wurzelbacher, a regular guy who had the temerity to ask Obama a question, than they have spent in the past year investigating the candidate. It wasn't even a "gotcha" question, but Obama, unable to see his teleprompter from Joe's front lawn, accidentally blurted out something that betrayed his actual, i.e. socialist, views.
Surprise! Joe did have some things in his past he'd prefer not to have everyone know about. Who doesn't have something, be it a crazy uncle, some other nuts, a few old terrorist pals. or our own role in creating the financial crisis? Some members of the media section of the Obama campaign suggested McCain should have "vetted" Joe before talking about The Incident. However, Joe, along with the rest of us, was "vetted" back during the founding of this great country. We have the right, at least for now, to ask questions of our leaders, even questions that embarrass them.
The real issue isn't Joe or what he said, but who Obama is, what he says and what that means. The fact is that Obama's tax plan would raise tax rates dramatically on people founding and running successful small businesses. Joe doesn't own one yet, but, God bless him, he wants to and he's working hard to make it happen. That's what creates the wealth that Obama wants to redistribute to people who are, for the most part, not working as hard as Joe. And Obama calls his stealth socialism "good for everybody."
Talk about a close call. Obama caught himself just in time. His initial thought was to say, "From each according to his abilities. To each according to his needs."
Obama said to Joe that he doesn't want to punish his success, and that's true. If he wanted to punish him, he'd give Joe a baby.
See also Mark Steyn's "Joe the Plumber vs. Joe the Hair-Plugger."
Another cross-posting from DLMSY.
"It's not that I want to punish your success. I want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success, too. My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."Before you could say, "Politics of Personal Destruction" the race was on to find some dirt, any dirt, on the man who asked the question that Obama whiffed on. John at Power Line writes of the crusade to discredit Joe in Bring me the head of Joe the Plumber:
"As Barack Obama made the rounds in his neighborhood, Joe the Plumber elicited Obama's frankly redistributionist statement that he seeks to 'spread the wealth around' in his tax plan. Clearly this cannot stand. We haven't seen anything like this since Sarah Palin was tapped by McCain as his running mate. Sayeth The One: "Let he who is without sin ask the first question. The rest of you, shut the f*** up."
The question itself revealed a kind of offense against royalty that in French goes under the rubric of lèse majesté. Moreover, Obama's comment betrays a frame of mind that is unpopular among independent middle-class voters whose vote may still be up for grabs. Joe the Plumber embarrassed The Man Who Would Be King."
Surprise! Joe did have some things in his past he'd prefer not to have everyone know about.

YouTube: Strike one!
This message from YouTube landed in my e-mail box today:
YouTube allows almost anything: dirty stuff, scandalous lies, commie propaganda, and more. But they don't want you to see the truth about our Mohammedan enemies. I can't really complain too much; it is their website. I'm not impressed with the criteria they use to exercise their censorship rights.
It can only get worse if Barack Obama gets elected. His 'dictatorship of the proletariat' approach to 'fairness' in the media will only embolden the heavy-handed bias of sites like YouTube.

Joe McCarthy's awful legacy: President Obama
Senator Joe McCarthy was a genuine anti-communist. I remember watching the Army-McCarthy hearings on TV in 1954 at my grandparents' house. Sadly his crusade against the spread of communism was derailed by the incompetency of his staffers and his leftist enemies in Congress and the media. McCarthyism came to mean "demagogic, reckless, and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents." (wiki)
Joe has his defenders, among them the spitfire Ann Coulter, who wrote a fine book about how revisionist historians have distorted McCarthy's real work. Still, old Joe remains about as popular as the proverbial plop in a punchbowl. It wouldn't be so bad if it were only a case of slander, but the revisionists have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. The institutionalized idiomatization of McCarthyism will possibly be responsible for bringing a communist to power in America.
The fear of being labeled as another Joe McCarthy is exactly why John McCain will not say the word "communist" or even "socialist" in his campaign against Barack Obama. There is no doubt that Obama is a Marxist: his associates, confederates, mentors , friends and neighbors are almost all communists, commie sympathizers or fellow travelers.
John McCain will notcall a spade a spade speak the truth not only for fear of being labeled a racist, but he doesn't want to be accused of McCarthyism. McCain grew up being told incessantly that McCarthyism was the same thing as calling out communists. It isn't. Still, McCain can't speak the words, though they be the truth.
Just as criticizing Barack Obama has become equated with an act of racism, so calling out the man's communist background and current policies is an act of McCarthyism.
Joe McCarthy was made to appear to have failed to produce the facts in support of his claim that communism was creeping into the American scene. He was painted as reckless and irresponsible. I think McCarthy would have seen a better outcome than the censure and ignominy that was his fate if there had been an internet in the 1950's. Today, the facts are available.
When Americans first realized it might be possible that Barack Obama could become the Democrat candidate for president the first thing I heard was, "Who is this man?" Well, we don't have to wonder any longer. Barack isn't just another Chicago Democrat. He is a Marxist.
If Obama gets elected president, we will have only a Congress three-fourths full of communist idiots, stooges, sympathizers, dupes and socialist fellow travelers to stand between us and a communist tomorrow.

Dear Leader News
Un-faked recent picture of Kim Jong-Il (click)
Rumors are flying that North Korea's communist boss, Kim Jong-Il, aka Dear Leader, is is seriously ill, incapacitated or perhaps even dead. I got the word from Henry Louis Gomez at Babalu Blog: Castro Death Watch is linking to a Sky News article about a big announcement that's supposed to be coming out of North Korea tomorrow. Apparently a Japanese newspaper is speculating that Kim Jong Il may be dead. There have been rumors of a stroke or other health incident by the "dear leader" for several weeks. As the truth is a scarce commodity in any communist nation, speculation, rumor and untrustworthy official denials are all we have to explain the coming big announcement.
Of course, there is always wishful thinking.

Chuck Hagel's ugly head appears again - Obama's Secretary of Defense?
Comrade Hagel
From Power Line blog: Does Chuck Hagel command your confidence?: According to the Times of London, Barack Obama has 'tipped' Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel to be his Secretary of Defense. Supposedly, Hegel would be part of a group of 'high-profile appointments who would command the confidence of the country at such a troubled time.' Other names being tossed around are John Kerry (Secretary of State) and Larry Summers (Secretary of Treasury).Read it and weep. Nebraska's "retiring" Republican Senator Chuck Hagel is a turncoat if ever there was one. He has a loser fixation from his Viet-Nam war experience. Worse than a RINO, he is actually a bitter Fifth Columnist. The communists in the Obama campaign have duped Hagel into shilling for them. He will be a perfect puppet 'Defense' Secretary. He will stand by and watch while Obama's traitors sell America down the river.

Still don't believe Obama is a communist? Read this backgrounder at New Zeal that I heard about from the Founding Bloggers.

Say it ain't so, Joe
Joe Froiland
Spencer, Iowa's most popular plumber is a Joe: Joe Froiland. So when Ohio's Joe the plumber made the news Spencer's Joe became even more popular. By now I'll bet he's heard a lot 0f "Joe the plumber" jokes. The story is in the Spencer Daily Reporter. Unfortunately Joe must sympathize with Famous Joe only up to a point because he ultimately says, "we're ready for a change." I hope it's the Bradley Effect at work. He knew he was being quoted for the paper. Could he have meant 'McCain change' and said that so his Democrat customers (and there is no shortage of Democrats here) wouldn't be offended and switch plumbers? Or does he intend to vote for Obama but didn't want to risk his Republican business? Certainly Joe's no racist, but there are dang few black homeowners in Spencer, Iowa.
November 4th is going to tell us what the polls and Bradley Effect can't.

Bill Ayers and the University of Nebraska
I had been too upset to blog about this revolting development. Just thinking about the unrepentant communist terror bomber William Ayers speaking at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln was making me ill. Thank goodness so many folks made their feelings about this stupid move known. Now it is confirmed, this awful decision has been reversed.
I sent an e-mail to Chancellor Perman's office this afternoon. Here is their reply:
Our schools need a good cleaning, from top to bottom. They are infested with Marxist vermin.
---
Id like to thank all the bloggers that helped to keep Bill Ayers away from Lincoln. I know the Right Wing Professor, Gerard Harbison had the University administration's feet to the fire. The Domestic Divapalooza was on their case as well. Many of the blog heavyweights joined our local fight: Michelle Malkin had several posts on the issue, BlackFive's Pinch had a very helpful post encouraging folks to sound off to Harvey Perlman, UNL's dimwitted Chancellor.
There were literally hundreds of bloggers across America that were as angry as I was to see this happen. I'd make a list with links to them all, but I need to get my blood pressure back off the ceiling.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman actually asked the University to back off. I'm proud of the Governor for taking a firm stand against the commies, fellow travelers and useful idiots (like University President Milliken) that run our state institutions of higher learning. Republican Congressman Lee Terry, the bailout wuss, and our one relatively good Senator, Ben Nelson went on record for uninviting Ayers as well.
Give them an inch, and they will take a mile.
---
Off Topic: I can't understand how Senator Nelson, a known semi-conservative, can get behind fellow Democrat Obama's campaign. I know he can't be enthused about it and I believe he came out early for Barack just to spite Hillary Clinton. Before he knew very much about the kind of man Barack really is. I'd give money to be a fly on the voting booth wall and see for whom Ben actually pulls the lever in November.
I sent an e-mail to Chancellor Perman's office this afternoon. Here is their reply:
Thank you for your comments. Dr. Ayers was invited for this student research conference last spring, based on his outstanding research and scholarship in the field of education. He is a distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is highly regarded in his field and by his peers, scholars and students. He is the vice president of the American Educational Research Association. He is the author of “To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher ” which in 1993 was named Book of the Year by Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education. He also was named the Chicago citizen of the year in 1997 for his work with the Chicago Public Schools. What kind of idiots do these elitist fellow travelers think their alumni are? They act as though I never heard of Bill Ayers. Hell, I remember June 10th, 1970, when 'protesters' that were inspired by the likes of Bill Ayers burned the Armory at UNL. The idiots that run the school now wanted to invite this same brand of trash back to give a speech at the observance of my school's 100th anniversary. I was so angry I could hardly type. I was ready to drive to Lincoln on Monday.
He will not talk about anything other than his research on teaching and urban school reform. We do not condone violence or any of the behaviors that Dr. Ayers engaged in 40 years ago. I can understand your strong feelings about this speaker and will pass your comments along to the dean and chancellor's office.
Our schools need a good cleaning, from top to bottom. They are infested with Marxist vermin.

The Left's Big Blunder
Here is a fascinating article from Zombie called The Left's Big Blunder. The essay itself is intricate enough that it can't be summarized in a short excerpt, but I'll try some bullet points:
I agree with Zombie's analysis: this is a manifestation of peer pressure and white guilt, the opposite of racism. Whites responding to polls may hedge or misrepresent their feelings, often unconsciously, to please the poll taker and to avoid the appearance of being racist. However, in the voting booth it's only you and your ballot, and there is no reason to bend your vote against your better judgment.
This certainly makes a lot of sense in today's environment. We're pounded daily with accusations that McCain's campaign is racist and that the country is too racist to vote for Obama. We're told that electing Obama will finally heal the country's racial wounds, despite that fact that his campaign seems to be aimed at ripping them wide open, and that there will probably be race riots if he loses. So much for the post-racial candidate.
Meanwhile, it's hard to speak up for conservative ideas in public or in polls, if it means defending Bush's record (or a lot of McCain's for that matter). I took an online poll that stumped me with this question: "Do you expect to John McCain's policies compared to Bush's to be more conservative, about the same, or less conservative? How do you answer that when neither man seems to have a coherent philosophy to base his decisions on?
Is Zombie right in suggesting that McCain may even be ahead, despite the poll results? I hope so, but that may just be wishful thinking on my part. There's also the question of how many phony votes Obama and his buddies at ACORN can create out of thin air or dig up out of the graveyards. We can only hope that the electorate, staring into the abyss of President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Reid, will come to its senses at the last moment and pull back. I do know that I fully intend to cast my vote against socialism and class warfare up and down the ticket, and I always vote.
Ann Coulter tackles the question of polling error in her own, inimitable fashion here.
- The "meta-campaign" (i.e. the "story" of the campaign) has become the main emphasis of the Left
- Obama is made to seem invincible with the hope that this will make him so
- This is seriously flawed as a strategy and potentially a colossal failure
- There are many reasons to believe the polls greatly overstate Obama's true strength and understate McCain's

Insurrection
Its time for you to send more e-mail. This time its to the Republican National Committee. The idea for this campaign came from the Ace of Spades. I urge you to read Ace's post, then use the e-mail addresses that follow to let the RNC know that we must fight hard or lose. Believe it or not, the RNC is on the verge of conceding the White House.
Here is what I did. I copied the text of Ace's call to arms like so:
Here is what I did. I copied the text of Ace's call to arms like so:
If McCain Won't Do It, We WillThen I pasted it into the e-mail message body. I used the first sentence for the subject, and sent them to all the following e-mail addresses:
I've been told to stop grousing about McCain's self-defeating refusal to fight back on the main issue this election -- It's the economy, stupid! -- and do something constructive.
Well. That's not half bad advice. So here's a constructive post.
The insurrection has three elements:
1) Donate to 527s hitting this issue with TV ads in swing states.
2) Inform the RNC you want them to begin hitting this issue nonstop themselves, even at the expense of pro-McCain ads, and even against his wishes. I've got news for you: At this point, due to McCain's stubbornness, we face a very real chance of losing 50 House seats and even failing to hold on to forty Senate seats, resulting in a Democratic President with a Democratic filibuster-proof Senate. The RNC must hit the Democrats on this issue with every last dime they can raise.
3) Inform McCain that you have donated all money that may have gone to him to 527s willing to fight on this issue, and you'll donate your free time making calls on behalf of Congressional and Senatorial candidates rather than his ticket.
Will 2 or 3 work? Well, here's some bad news: the RNC is already considering abandoning McCain in favor of trying to save the Senate, and until McCain is comfortable addressing the only issue on voters' minds right now, maybe that's for the best.
Besides, any ad that blames Obama and the Democrats for the subprime disaster helps McCain, whether he understands economics enough to realize that or not.
As for three... doubtful. But maybe a concerted effort can convince him, just once, to listen to Republican voters on a crucial issue.
If I had to guess... John McCain has always been fairly well-off. The son of an admiral isn't hurting. I don't know if he understands that "honor" and "integrity" are noble virtues but not really a priority for voters who just lost half their 401ks, must now pony up $10,000 per household to bail out a financial sector they had nothing at all to do with harming, and are actually worried they might lose their homes or jobs in the near future.
McCain is now the one dealing in the airy-fairy realm of vague slogans, whereas Barack Obama is the one communicating to the country on specific issues that are paramount to them.
Socialism is making its case while capitalism remains silent, as if ashamed to even speak.
Of course Barack Oama is winning. 90% of success is just showing up, and capitalism isn't showing up. Because McCain is too timid to fix the blame on the socialistic risk-transfer the Fannie and Freddie subprime mortgages represented.
A great harm has been done to the nation. The country is angry. They are looking for people to blame -- and if John McCain is too meek or "honorable" to lay blame where it deserves to be laid, well then, they'll blame him. And the party he represents.
Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and yes, even Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, have no qualms whatsoever about blaming this crisis on McCain and his running mates George Bush and the GOP.
Why is McCain so reluctant to fire back?
Shake him out of his complacency.
