Another Amnesty Amendment - Say No!

Express your disappointment that the sneaking weasels of our:
Senate Appropriations Committee chose to include in the War Supplemental more than 100 pages of immigration language that would grant legal status to more than one million illegal alien agricultural workers and their families.
You may do so by signing Senator Jim Inhofe's No Amnesty letter. I fail to see what granting amnesty to criminal immigrants has to do with appropriations to help win the war in Iraq.

You'd think our Senators never heard of the internets; they still think they can sneak one past us. Sign the Inhofe letter and consider logging in at NumbersUSA. Send a message that will help lower Harry Reid's expectations.

They have sharp knives

Bloody Work - click for more
Federal Immigration cops have raided a Kosher meat processing plant in Postville, Iowa, arresting hundreds of illegal immigrant workers. I don't mean illegal Jewish immigrants. Those arrested are cats here illegally from Mexico and Guatemala and such.

Iowa Governor Chet Culver thinks they ought to be prosecuted, but... Perhaps the "but" has something to do with campaign contributions made by the Rubashkin family, who own the Postville plant to politicians of every stripe.

The old feeder notes that the Rubashkins have also started a similar Kosher kill operation in Gordon, Nebraska. Ostensibly, the idea was to employ Red Indians from the Pine Ridge Reservation. I'm guessing the Native Americans didn't work out as cheap labor** and that the plant in Gordon is operated by unpapered cats from South of the border. Just a guess.

** If Red Indians had been amenable to slavery, why would the New World have had to import slaves from Africa?

Meth-ican restaurant entrepreneur

El Chico Loco
Juan Humberto Castillo-Alvarez, ringleader of the Los Krazy Boyz Estherville, Iowa, gang that murdered 15-year-old Gregory Sky Erickson in 1997 over an unpaid drug debt, received his sentence yesterday at the Clay County Courthouse in Spencer, Iowa, according to The Daily Reporter. Castillo-Alvarez immediately fled the country after his number two man, meth idiot Luis Lua, murdered Erickson rather than simply "punish" him with two severe beatings.

Castillo-Alvarez fled to Mexico City, generally regarded as one of the largest and most corrupt cities in the world, but against all odds he was eventually captured there in 2006 and returned to Iowa for prosecution. He is the tenth and final member of the gang to be prosecuted and convicted.

Back in the mid nineties I was working in Estherville for awhile and had lunch at the Mexico Lindo restaurant that Castillo-Alvarez owned and operated. At that time restaurants owned by real Mexicans were still a rarity in northwest Iowa. Juan Humberto himself waited on me. He was a personable guy, the food was good and the prices were fair. I didn't know he had a pistol or two hidden in the ceiling tile. I also didn't know that you could get a side of Mexican weed or meth with your takeout order of tacos and enchiladas. I planned to go back the next time I was in town.

Sky Erickson was one of a kind according to local legends. In the words of his mother, Joni Ketter, "Sky was really a very cool kid. He was incredibly bright and had this magnetic personality that just drew other people to him."

Too bad the Krazy Boyz were drawn to him and too bad the cops arrested him in possession of some weed and $728. And too bad the criminal justice system tried to make an informant out of him and were unable to protect him from loco Luis. And why couldn't someone have come up with $1400 to pay off his drug debt? This is one of those stories that, if you were to dig into it, would probably reveal incompetence and failures far beyond the crimes of young Sky.

I remember reading an anonymous quote in 1997 from someone presumably higher up in the system, "There's plenty of blame to go around."

Amnesty Zombie Rises Again

It won't stay dead!
Stop the Democrats (and a few renegade RINOs like Senator Hagel of Nebraska) from ramming Amensty For Illegals down our throats TODAY. Call or fax your Senator. Tell them you aren't fooled by their procedural shenanigans.

Here is the message I faxed to Senator Hagel this morning:
Amnesty is amnesty. We don't want it. I'm embarrassed that you continue to act against the wishes and best interests of your constituents here in Nebraska now that you know you couldn't get elected dog catcher in this state today. Stop using the power that our votes gave you to pass laws we don't want.
Please, get on the phone, use NumbersUSA to send free faxes, or send an e-mail to your Senators now. Don't let them run amok with the power your votes gave them. Lets drive a stake through the amnesty zombie's heart.

Updated: The zombie is sent back to its grave. Watch out, it will be back again.

Will someone please tell Senator Chuck Hagel to shut up.

Kick this lame duck again, he's still moving.
Our disgraced and discredited Senator Chuck Hagel has been forced to get out of politics, but refuses to behave like the lame duck that he is. From Barbara Anderson at WEBCommentary:
S.2205 was introduced last week by Senators Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Richard Lugar (R-IN), and Dick Durbin. This senate bill grants amnesty to illegal aliens who arrived in the U.S. before the age of sixteen. Although publicized as a help to young students, the bill has no age limits on applicants and no caps as to the numbers. The final goodie is the provision that illegal aliens who are granted amnesty under the bill are eligible for federal financial aid.

There are now reports that Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid plans to use a maneuver to bring it back as a stand-alone bill as early as this week by invoking Rule 14. This would allow him to fast-track the bill, with no debate and no markups, which is usually the procedure.

The DREAM Act has been around for several years and was included in the ill-fated “comprehensive” amnesty legislation defeated in the Senate this year. It has been changed from time to time, so some provisions have been altered or even omitted from different resurrections of the act.
Nebraskans are disgusted with Senator Hagel for many reasons: being a RINO, a defeatist, A Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferer, and a favorite of the loony left. He agrees with President Bush on open borders. We cornhuskers have made it abundantly clear that his 'leadership' hasn't lived up to our expectations. We don't want any more of it.

Senator Hagel, stop screwing up the nation and start planning your retirement.

Chertoff's Gut Feeling

Seriously, folks, I've got a gut feeling...
Does anyone trust US Secretary of Homeland Security Mike Chertoff's gut feeling about an impending terrorist attack in the US after all his pissing and moaning about how we can't possibly secure our borders? America ought to have a proactive, can-do cat to run our Homeland Security operations. Chertoff has lost my confidence. Even President Bush doesn't buy the 'gut feeling' approach to National Defense.

Perhaps we should consider having a military person in charge at DHS. Politicians and lawyers don't appear to be willing or able keep the Jihad wars off our streets. Maybe Mensa General Norm Schwarzkopf or Ollie North. It is just too bad that Curtis LeMay isn't available.

Score one for the people

The World Turned Upside Down
Senate Blocks Immigration Bill. 46-53 against cloture. Haven't seen the votes yet, but I have to think our Democrat Senator Ben Nelson helped America dodge a mortal bullet by voting to finish off this ill-conceived, dishonest piece of legislation. From CQ:
Perhaps the most telling vote will come from Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson, who has made a practice of supporting cloture motions whether he intends to vote for the legislation or not. Nelson said Wednesday he would likely break that tradition and vote against ending debate on the immigration bill.
Ben is the best Senator Nebraska has. Nobody but Chuck Hagel can deny it. Rush Limbaugh will never stop saying that he and his talk-radio pals are running America.
---
Update: Ben Nelson didn't let us down. Here are the numbers, via Michelle Malkin.
---
Thanks to Sean Hannity, George Voinovich was one of the "switch" votes. Or, perhaps he just couldn't get it straight. Lets see, was it “a vote against cloture is a vote to kill the bill” or "a vote for cloture is a vote for..."? I forget.

Amnesty Bill - Shoot it again, its still twitching

The Amnesty bill threatens to rise from its shallow grave. If you are lucky enough to have a Senator that gives a damn what you think, be sure to give their office a call today. I'm against it.

Amnesty Now!

San Ysidro Border Crossing
How many disaffected Mexicans are packing their suitcases right now? If the Senate can't stop it, another amnesty is in the works. Mexamerica can't be far behind.

I'd be willing to give Mexico Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico for them to set up their nasty Aztlan nation. On the condition that all Mexican and other south-of-the-border illegal aliens in the rest of America move there immediately.

I'd even be so kind as to offer a small window of opportunity for the American citizens now living in the ceded states to repatriate to the US. After the window closes, though, they become Mexicans or Aztlanians or whatever.

Bad Spinach and Biological Warfare

Rare sighting of non-Mexican spinach picker
The tainted spinach mini-crisis that sickened scores of folks, (and may have killed a few) all across America, seems to have subsided. I wonder if this incident wasn't a test to determine how quickly a biological warfare agent could be disseminated by terrorists. What if it had been a more lethal agent than E-Coli?

Who would be conducting such a test? Your guess is as good as mine. Our government has tested biologicals on unwitting Americans in the past. The UN is interested. Our Mohammedan fanatic enemies certainly have a motive to know how effectively a nasty biological could be distributed across our populace. Even if they didn't actually cause this E. Coli outbreak, you can be sure they are watching the way the spinach problem is playing out.

Be aware. Be careful.

Addendum: The second annual International Symposium on Agroterrorism convened this week in Kansas City, Missouri. I'm confident that the spinach vector will be discussed.

Mexican Weed Burner

Electric Fence - file photo
A Republican congressman from Iowa, Steve King, has proposed an electric fence to be built along the US - Mexican border. He probably remembers the old weed burner fencing. These gave an unpleasant bite, but were implicated in a number of fires.

It would be cheaper than the Berlin Wall types being considered. I don't think the Mexicans will figure out how to defeat electric fencing with insulated wire cutters. The livestock never did.

Iowa always sends the creepiest Republicans to Washington. Remember Wiley Mayne? He was still saying that the Watergate case was only, "a series of inferences piled upon other inferences", while Dick was packing his suitcase.

Reverse migration?

Mexican Attractions
I'm curious about specifics of the newly proposed Mexican drug bill. For instance does it apply to all people in possession of drugs or just Mexicans? We've had the opportunity to learn that Mexico has one attitude towards immigration status in the U.S. and quite another within its own borders.

A number of drug users in this country, I would think, have the money to move to Mexico and become Mexicans as a lot of American retirees are doing these days. By legalizing small amounts of drugs and thereby eliminating a source of bribery income for the Mexican police, is it possible that the Mexican government has its eye on a larger prize of American dopers with money? Like I said, I'm just curious.

We should deport these bums

Take Names
This disrespect for our laws and our flag is outrageous. These Mexicans and their hopes for a better life in America have been hijacked by cats with plans that bode ill for both the Mexicans and the United States. You can see pictures of some of them posted here by the feeders favorite: Michelle Malkin. Some of these miscreants, like the Che-mmunists, want to ruin the very aspects of America that made it attractive to the Mexicans in the first place. Others, such as the Aztlanists, insidiously distort the traditional American concept of diversity as symbolized by the 'melting pot'; they would convert America into another Mexico. You can see these and more, (including even some sorry-assed "Black Panthers") in the pictures Michelle has posted.

These interlopers only sour any sympathy I might have had for decent, hard-working Mexicans who were lulled into the crime of illegal immigration by years of US neglect of it's own border. For decades, there has been a de-facto legalization of their crime. We are supposed to call them 'undocumented' instead of 'illegal', as if they were only guilty of having left their immigration papers in their other pants. We are supposed to let the kids out of school to watch hate-mongers disrespect the flag as they trash our nation's laws , curse it's institutions and threaten our leaders. These big demonstrations don't scare me or move me. I take that back, they do move me. I am moved to suggest that we deport them as fast as we can catch 'em, and spend what it takes to prevent their return.
---
Update: MM says the Mohammedans are muscling in on the Mexicans' cause. Everyone who hates America is jumping on the immigration bandwagon. The Mexicans are certainly big suckers for letting this happen to their demo. We might as well tar them all with the same brush, its too late to try to sort them out. For analysis, check out this post at All Things Beautiful.

Why would Mexicans in the US insult the flag?

How is this supposed to help Mexicans in the USA?
Why would Mexicans living here in the United States do things like this? Acts like this seem especially counterproductive now, while the US is engaged in a heated debate about our national attitude towards these same Mexicans. I don't know much about the "Mexican movement" or whatever it is called, but I smell agents provocateur. Bad folks who want trouble for reasons not necessarily related to these immigrants' cause.

The only other explanation is that the Mexicans do things like this just to piss the rest of us off. Instead, they should be trying to ingratiate themselves with the America they want to make their home. Thanks to Michelle Malkin for pointing out the outrageous. If all they wanted was California, well...
